Y'all. Why is the Mothercrystal trial always pure suffering? D: Is it a Chaos issue or is it like this on other DCs too? Everytime I get it on my RDM main I want to scream because I know people will die every 10 seconds and I will be CONSTANTLY out of MP because I have to Verraise everyone. We only had 1 first timer btw. I just don't get it, it's the easiest trial in EW, people can even practice it with Trust! I desperately need more ways to recover MP on Red Mage, Lucid is always on cooldown. :')

It's definitely different. The fight with the canons was replaced with much more relevant mechanics IMO. They did dial way back on the trash which is unfortunate. That dungeon was the Tank come to Hydaelyn moment because it was so easy to overpull in a few spots and a very pointed reminder to keep you gear up to date (guilty!).
You're not alone. It's like that on Primal too. (I think all the NA DCs are equally inept.) The cannons were only ever in the hard version of the dungeon and they're still there(got it in roulette last weekish). It's really easy due to ilvl creep and the fact that it's an optional dungeon. For the boss with the cannons I've seen groups just eat the stun and keep going, ignoring the mechanic completely.It's definitely different. Regular Stone Vigil was a massive noob trap though. You'd almost always run into a sprout healer/tank and they'd overpull/wipe. The first wide open room after around 6ish mobs(and getting hit by fire in the hallway once) was packed with at least 9ish mobs on its own and there wasn't really any way around it. I really think they overnerfed that pull, since it's now 3 mobs in the entire room(it's a big room, 6 would've been fine). Also miss the older versions of the bosses, especially the last one since it takes longer now due to it always becoming invun 4 times to do 4 flight attacks on the part. Think it used to only do that twice before.
As someone that did all of EW outside of Zodiark with trusts, I think the answer would surprise you. Trusts actually make fights easier. Outside of any spread markers you can mindlessly follow the npcs to get through mechanics without having any idea on what you're doing. So then later if you get that duty through roulette, you're usually clueless unless you checked a guide(or you decided to actually look for the cues as you did them with trusts instead of just following the npcs). no, the original Koshchei fight had cannons. you used them to scare off Isgebind from firing off Rime Wreaths while you fight Koshchei.The cannons were only ever in the hard version of the dungeon and they're still there(got it in roulette last weekish). Four more tank roulettes: 2 Praetorium, 1 Castrum, 1 Porta. No, MSQ Roulette wasn't checked by mistake. Dunno what formula is being used there but it's pretty bad.
Managed to DPS backfill another mostly-over Labyrinth though.
