I have a house and leaving the server, this is the only way I can get Gil for my house and have someone else get it.

If so, just remove your estate but don't relinquish it before transferring over to the new world. Not only would you be reimbursed the original cost of the house, you'll also be given an additional 3 million gil to compensate for the potential loss of any unclaimed furnishings.

Housing in this game is a disgrace and a constant source of bitterness and disappointment for thousands of people. Square has had years to improve this system and they've managed to somehow make things bad in every iteration. I've simply given up on the housing side of things. After losing this recent lottery (even with ~80 plots made available, odds were still not favorable on balmung; an average was 1:16 for a small) I will just chill and hope that someday more wards open.

No shade and Im not trying to insult anybody, but is a virtual house really THAT important? Sure Id like one to if I could get the gil for one and not be poor, but Im not unmotivated to play the game over it.

I just like making my own place. Thats probably my main interest in housing. (Also a nice way to craft without the need to seeing anybody)

Other than that you have the workshop with the airships and submarines behind them (which includes pets and other stuff) and you have the plants that you can only get there (or by paying way too much money on the MB)

On top of that you have SE that seems to believe, that its fine to give us so many housing items as rewards while quite a few people wont ever be able to use them...

I understand the OP's frustration. Remember, the lottery system solved the "waiting at the placard spamming buttons for 12-24 hours" problem (which gave an inherent benefit to bots). It was never designed to solve the housing shortage problem.

Let's flip this on its head though. I've been running Memoria Miseria (Ex) for more than 100 runs (200 totems). I still haven't seen the Triple Triad card. I'm not paying 15/mo just to lose to some RNG system either.

At least housing is a "someone must win" situation. A TT card does not drop to the loot pool. For cases like this, should we be questioning why we sub to this game?

Imagine if someone only wanted to craft, but FFXIV did an overhaul of the entire crafting system and that person's main craft (and source of gil) was no longer profitable. Maybe they would question why they would want to keep their sub.

Or someone who likes to PVP- maybe the lack of being able to group with their friends in CC is enough of a reason to stop their sub.

People will always make choices. In this case, housing is often very popular in MMOs, in the case of FFXIV it it is a publicized feature of the game, and it wouldn't be unreasonable for a new player to expect that a it would be possible to get a house.

Your example of a TT card is interesting, i would expect something like that to come up in events so that i could acquire it, otherwise that's a bug. If someone is not enjoying that and that's all that they do in in the game , sure I guess they could unsub.

Well over 100 available basic small plots available to spread attention around, many of which only have a lottery of 2-3 players and I STILL can\\'t get a house. And I\\'ve been waiting literally god dang forever and this was my best chance. BeTtEr LuCk NeXt TiMe hurr hurr hurr nah man better luck for everyone else next time I\\'m sick of this garbage I couldn\\'t get a house before in the old system cuz I didn\\'t want to run a bot program to auto-click a placard for days on end and I can\\'t get one on this system either because I have to wait what, 9 days irl just to lose even an extremely small lottery anyways.

Idk why I even kept my sub going but you know what this game just takes up my hard drive space and has been getting money out of me for actually no reason and yeah nobody is gonna care that I\\'m gone cuz the servers are still pretty full the game is doing really well but like I said I\\'m just screaming into the void I hate this so much I ain\\'t doing it anymore freaking swtor has available housing and that game is old and lame but at least I can just drop some credits and get started decorating but on this game I can house hunt for 2+ years and end up empty handed fffffffffffffff

Underlying game engines and coding vary immensely from game-to-game. And I'm not quite sure using LOTRO or SWTOR as examples of games "still going strong" is a good idea (I'm not familiar enough with PSO2 to know its real status). SWTOR is down to just a few servers, and LOTRO just announced closing another of their original world servers a few weeks ago.

SWTOR is going to coast for quite a while at the 5 existing servers (2 US, 1 EU-EN, 1 EU-FR, 1 EU-DE), though. I've watched other games go through the same Freemium model and they get an easy decade+, and SWTOR is not only Star Wars, it's the last bastion of Legends (formerly Expanded Universe) content.

Paying a sub fee, does not entitle you, to get everything you want when you want. It wouldn't be a lottery if you just always won.

The reality is that most people that participate in the lottery will be disappointed. The point of a video game is to have fun, right? There's got to be a better solution than disappointing the majority of participants every 9 days.

I think truly instanced housing is the only solution here. Let us upgrade apartments into small, medium, and large sizes and reactivate auto-demo.
