Fetter ward used to be a thing. But it made too much sense so they took it out and replaced it as this janky add on effect on Purify thereby eliminating any strategic pre-emptive or proactive use for it. The logic does go with their model of no diminishing returns on crowd control abilities though i guess.

Lag, server ticks, whatever you want to attribute it to certainly does prevent purify from working as intended.
What they should do is recode the skill so that it applies the resilience buff before cleansing your CC. This will prevent you from being Re-CC'd immediately after hitting the skill.

Yeah it's fun to meme on the person whining, but the skill REALLY needs a once twice and thrice over.
