The lottery is just rearranging the deckchairs on the Titanic. The present system doesn't give EU and NA players enough houses, the lottery is not going to improve supply and supply is the issue.

The lottery system is just more intimidating than a real fix. I use to feel I had SOME KIND OF CHANCE with IDK maybe a 20% or something when the clicking war was a thing. Now when I place a bid, I feel I have a 0.000something chance. The only fix is we don't have to sit in front of the plot for a whole day. In return, we now see how many people are after a house with not enough being provided. I hope this change from clicking war to bidding is more of an eye-opener to SE as it is to the players on how many are competing for a house and how many are disappointed in not getting one.

I know people who want a house but won't bid because the odds of winning are just way too insane. It's like trying to win a lottery... but the prize is only a digital house so it's not even worth stressing over half of the time. When I go place a bid, I expect to lose and call the deadline 'The Day I Get My Gil Back.'

Any day you can bring a smile to someone's face is a good day. Your topic isn't reduced at all by the clearly unintentional error as the meaning is perfectly clear to us - but it brings joy and giggles. If anything, it becomes a positive thread that carries more weight.

Are you saying the hundreds of thousands of people living in apartments / flats don't have a home? There are people that are content with a 6ft x 6ft square. Often paying beyond-stupid prices for it (you need only look at flats in London / New York as example.) Calling Apartments "not housing" or claiming anyone bringing them (and FC rooms by proxy) to be 'trolls' works very much against your desire.

Instant housing? Not going to happen. Period. You get a House in the Wards, or an Apartment / FC room where you can. Those are your options. Take 'em or leave 'em.

Can they change that so that everyone gets a house? Definitely. Do I want them to fix it so that everyone gets a house? Definitely. Do I think Square Enix will actually make that change? Unlikely.

I'd rather see options available if *instanced* housing was to become a thing. I like getting to know and see some neighbors over time, so maybe instanced could be in addition to our wards.

I *predict* that without scarcity of housing the wanters will want a whole lot less and instanced housing will be underutilized just like apartments.

that seems intellectually dishonest. the people in London deal with a 6ft by 6ft square because there is no other choice at their income level, not because they think its somehow the pinnacle of housing.

Far from. I've got a house, an FC room and an apartment. I no longer need to jump through hoops. (I imagine you're only going to read this line and ignore the rest, probably come up with some delusional statement that revolves around my opinion / input not being relevant BECAUSE of this fact. If that happens, I will laugh)

That's not a "Quitter" mentality. SE is a business and currently, people grandfathered in brings in.. Probably not a lot in the grand scheme of things, but it is guaranteed every month. People going on the "offensive" and attacking the house hoarders for what they've done (which is play by the rules, more often than not) really only works to SEs favor, as that (potentially) annoys / irritates said hoarders, making them hold onto the houses just to spite you.

And before you make any remarks about the hoarders being spiteful.. Yes. Humans do this. A lot.

I am aware people in London aren't very big fans of the fact they are paying stupid prices for a box. Believe me.. There's a whole lot more wrong than what was stated but the point was more-so that they very much TRY to make that small space work. They try to make it comfortable. (some of them, at least. I know a few that still use a box for a dining table, but I digress)

The point was that they made the small space work as best they can. So if they can do that, why can't people settle for Apartments? That was the connection I was trying to draw. A rather poor one in hindsight, but I can't really change that now, can I?
