Also, think this way... if someone is suddenly in need of a repair during a raid, do you honestly expect the person to be carrying Dark Matter around? If he/she is not even a crafter, chances are that he/she won't be carrying Dark Matters in the first place. If a system is implemented that way, you can imagine this scenario:If this is a pre-formed party, this would be called "helping a friend". And when I do as little as repairing friends' gear, I won't charge a dime.
If this is not a pre-formed party, but just a PUG from the DF, this would be called "helping a stranger for the sake of the whole party's victory".
I don't mind paying for 1 or 2 people in a PUG. I don't have to worry about paying for too many people, because they wouldn't know that I'm a crafter during a raid. So unless someone is calling for help, I wouldn't call out and offer to repair anyone anyway. And if too many try to abuse my help, I can always decline as well.
If I can help shorten the run by repairing 1 or 2 strangers, I'd do it. It's much better than letting the rest of the party carrying someone who needed repair and dragging the whole party's progress and precious time.
"Oh, sorry, my gear needs repair. Anyone here who can repair my gear?"
"I can. I'm a crafter! Do you have some Dark Matter?"
"What are those?"
"Well, you need to carrying those so that you can request my repair."
"Doh, I wouldn't ask what they were if I had been carrying them!"
"Hmm, ok... I have some with me here, but I can't trade with you in the duty"
"Well, fxxk me."
... See what I mean? What's the point of the system if it's so inconvenient?

Once the patch goes live, I'm sure there will be an explanation of how it works. There might even be a help item added in. I'm certain it will actually require people to have matter on them, but we'll see. One slot isn't gonna hurt anybody. It's crafters that tend to have the inventory problems. Also, think this way... if someone is suddenly in need of a repair during a raid, do you honestly expect the person to be carrying Dark Matter around? The cost doesn't even bother me. It's just the thought of supporting people who might either be ungrateful or not worth the effort.
