I doubt they'd ban and burn the entire free company over the actions of a few who apparently acted unilaterally.

IDK... they would suspend someone in game for saying a word like poop...very petty company imo

Saying "poop" won't get you banned. Using an obscenity with the same meaning would. Which isn't "petty" at all considering you straight up agree to the ToS saying you won't use obscene language.

We don't expect lawsuits. We did expect a lawyer sending a Cease And Desist notice, which is a sternly worded letter that says "hey stop doing that and don't do it again."

C&D usually doesn't lead to further legal action against the infringer. However, their next revised Media Usage license might explicitly have a call out against using in game assets for an IRL advertisement without SE permission.

many, many people on twitter, reddit, 4chan, the balance discord, THESE forums, their own discord were explicitly calling for legal action to be taken against them, including criminal law punishments and jail time.

I wasn't calling for legal action myself, I just expected some sort of action to happen, even if it was just a cease-and-desist letter, which almost had to given the circumstances. Guessing that is the reason why they didn't go through with the rest of their billboard ads.

What really happens is someone calls another player "**** tier awful player uninstall" and gets banned, as they should
