ALWAYS look into having an HOA before purchasing a house. I've seen so many people complain that they want to do whatever they want with their house and don't want a dumb HOA stepping in and telling them what to do. Things like this are exactly what those associations are for. They guarantee that a community of housing has a certain look and feel for everybody that lives there. I'm really sorry that you're unhappy with your house and hope you take this in mind for the future. If it really bothers you, there are plenty of people looking for housing in this economy.
