Do bards contribute in current CC?

I have been a bard main since 1.0. I placed reasonably in upper diamond last season. Last season I felt I was able to help decide when an opponent dies, and to also manage the crystal.

This season I feel as if my damage has been negated, I still occasionally help decide when an opponent dies with silence, but not as often, and I'm struggling to remain on the crystal because I seem to be focused down rather quickly.

I am simply missing something from what I should be doing, or is bard in a bad spot right now?

They may not have the highest numbers per hit, but they do pump out significant damage and have the best silence in the game, which also chains into one of their better weaponskills along other actions. They also get essentially a second purify that comes with a hefty mitigation.

The limiz break is thematically nice, but probably a bit on the weaker end. However it seems to be a sound job

Bard is one of the weaker Jobs, while in theory it has some decent buffs and damage, it's the only Job with range requirement to truly get out the benefits which makes contesting a Crystal really bad for them.

Not to mention that the Limit Break is most team centric in game, has long wind-up animation lock and can be line of sighted by nearby teammates on top of being REALLY slow to build is absolutely horrible.

If they would give him a better limit break it would already go far.

I see at least 1 BRD every match. Meh kit, broken CC. Bad design imo.

BRD is strong. Paean and Silent Nocturne are extremely powerful and you have basically permanent uptime on buffs for your team. Your own burst potential is decent, though nothing outstanding. You lose some filler damage if you have to get close to things but it's nowhere near as bad as people like to complain about - it's filler for a reason, and 4k per GCD is the exact same damage all casters have on *their* filler buttons.

I don't think the job has particularly changed between seasons. Bard is effective, but a significant part of it's power comes from buffing your team and manipulating crowd control. You need to be reading the match flow to the point where you can anticipate both teams' plays, at which point your silence and cleanse can be devastatingly disruptive.

BRD is pretty strong. Just the timing of when to use your toolkit that matters is when they become scary.
