Someone from another post pointed out that you can use the virtual mouse if you don't have a physical one, but the virtual mouse itself is extremely clunky on the controller.
You can also use the touchpad as a mouse, or have an actual mouse plugged into the PS4. Whichever way you approach it, there is almost always time at the beginning of the battle where the enemy will not attack until you make the first move, so you can stop and read the tool tips for as long as you need.

I never liked being forced to play as a scion that I can't stand or other npc's for story quests. They should have made them all none storyline quests that don't need to do. They should be easy now with very easy option to pick.

Most controller players I know turn the touchpad mouse off because of how bad it interferes with the 2 touchpad buttons.
I'm personally playing those role-playing duties fine. It's just that I don't understand why they won't make a simple window for the controller players without forcing the use of a mouse.
I sound more annoyed than I should maybe because I'm also an app developer and I'm seeing an issue not just about the duty itself.
It seems to me that the current SE dev care much less about accessibility than before. (And all the recent bugs, lack of care for job balance, etc., which will be way off topic if I elaborate)

I mean, controller players can use a mouse of some sort, be it physical or virtual, to use the normal rectangular toolbars too. But you won't expect them to.
The same should go for these duty tooltips.
It's the lack of consideration that they're putting in development now that actually bugs me.

I do agree with that. Recent menu interfaces like the glamour dresser and redesigned shop windows feel more cumbersome on controller than they should be, and I accidentally close them a lot by pressing Circle when I feel like that should take me back up to the main drop-down list.

I despise these quests. I have had trouble with most of them. I nearly rage quit the game over one myself. Devs, allow a skip mode after failure in these horrible quests. Don't give xp if it's used. I would rather miss out on that xp than be forced to play through these atrocious quests. They are not fun.

And for all the elitists who want to say it's a matter of skill, get over yourselves. We all can't be perfect like you. I have severe arthritis and when it's acting up, my reaction time is that of an undead sloth. Many of these scion quests rely on faster reflexes than I have. I have been stopped for weeks at a time because I can't get past one of these. OP, I am 100% in agreement with you that these quests are unnecessary, not fun, and add little to nothing to the game. Take some time to try and get rid of the bad taste this left you with and maybe the devs will eventually listen to the large number of players who hate these quests.

The only mechanics that I can think of that are fast at least in the most recent ones are the tower ones. Are you normally unable to get out of the AoEs when they happen in dungeons or solo fights(ones you're playing as yourself)? As other than having limited and sometimes different skills than you normally would. The AoEs aren't any different than the ones you see in a regular duty. Every single one has some kind of ability to cure.

So chuck my vote in the opposition pile but I enjoy these scenarios.
The restricted kit is what makes the duty easier. Since it only gives you the required essentials. It obviously feels weird when its a class you normaly also play, but that is well compensated anyway.

I do wonder though if that duty even had the 'very easy' option. Since at normal difficulty failing is a normal thing to happen, but at very easy you can just sneeze enemies to death (although, i only used that difficulty once because i realy do not like stealth in this game. for stealth i rather just play a game dedicated for it).
