The majority of Money goes through the USA or China, the Majority of FFXIV players are in North America. The US the 3rd highest Population, Largest Economy with China being neck and Neck.

I just get a bit tired of "lets abuse American opinions" on these forums. Close to half of the Player Base has the 4th off, it's a good time to have the servers running, as you want to encourage people playing. The 24 hour downtime for patches, can be annoying at any time, but try and time those when people don't have a massive holiday. And by Massive, the 4th is a holiday that affects a large portion of the player base, and most people (besides Retail Workers) have the day off.

I should point out that they are not saying close to half of players are US citizens. they are playing on the North American server. thats all that figure states. not to mention the many that are working so they do not actually have the 4th off if they are in the US

True, and yes people play in NA from around the world, and other parts of North America, but an Equal number of people from North America play on Servers outside of North America. The reality though, the Vast Majority of NA players are in the US. The population spread is probably close to the population Spread of North America.

The US has 332.7 Million People, Mexico has 130.1 Million People, California has 39.4 million people, and Canada has 38 million people.
