They don't need to reset anything, just get rid of Power-leveling, Yoshi-p hinted that PLing was there to get new players to end game easier during and upto 2.0, I suspect it wont be present in 2.0 but even so I think we still need level sync before 2.0 because that's like 7-9 months away.

Of course perhaps maybe hamlet defence will solve all our levelling woes, who knows.

The latest poll has question pertaining to how fast XP is earned and I hope that the feedback is enough to make him think that powe-rlevelling is not the right way of going about it.
Yeah, older players should have anadvantage over new players, but how far reaching should that advantage extend?

I for one think the knowledge of the game world + the daily leve allowances which enable those older players to accumulate more exp and gil over time is advantageous enough. I don't think the ability to ding all battle classes to 50 in 1 week by sitting afk while a friend or ls member farms is an advantage that should be included.

New players will feel reluctant to join any old world that has been tainted by powerleveling once powerleveling is abolished. They will simply roll on the new servers that will provide a clean slate. Why? Because no one enjoys being at a disadvantage.

We all know the chances of PLing being abolished are about equal to those of servers being reset. I agree it has deteriorated the game, but i'm not sure abolishing the mechanism would do any good to fix the damage it has already done.

If an npc buys a commonly droped item for an exorbitant price and a player farms thousands of them and makes 999,999,999 gil from that method, then the solution would be to fix the price the npc buys the item back for and remove all the gil that method has produced in excess. If only one of those two problems are fixed then the unintended consequences of the underlying problem will persist.
