Papalymo ambient dialogue in 3.5 includes "...have recently overcame"

    • Quest title: Tidings from Gyr Abania (originally added in 3.5)
    • Quest step (observed): Wait for Tataru at the Diamond Forge
    • Current patch (observed): 6.15
    • Location: The Rising Stones (6.2, 6.2)
    • NPC: Papalymo
    • Dialogue line:
My word, {name}, I must confess to some considerable amazement at the great trials and tribulations you and the others have recently overcame.
    • Issue:
Papalymo appears to be combining simple past and perfect tenses with "have recently overcame."
Unless my understanding of Sharlayan or English conventions is off (admittedly possible) he would likely choose either "you and the others recently overcame" or "you and the others have recently overcome".

Your understanding of prescribed English grammar is correct; the prescribed sequence here would be "you and the others have recently overcome." Not everyone speaks with prescribed English grammar, and "have overcame" is a form that is used by actual English speakers and would be appropriate for some characters; however, I think Papalymo would use the prescribed grammar.
