does anyone else feel like... not doing it?
I got to crystal rank in season 1 on week 2 and ever since I haven't touched the game mode
now a new season dropped barely 3 months later and I just don't feel like grinding it over again
I don't know if it's something wrong with me, but I just feel like it would be kind of a job to have to do this absolutely awful torture every 3 months for the rest of my ffxiv playing time.

I didnt even do that, I got to like gold 3 and decided the will to live was more important than ranking and called it quits. I'd love to see CC population if it didnt have a season pass/fomo rewards tied to it.

It might be easier to get involved if the rewards were better, but just as an example, the Light v Chaos DC tournament rewards are random crap you can get from Twitter giveaways, and if you come first place, you'll get a Scree umbrella that you'll probably never use. Or want to use but cant. Because any activity that matters, you cant use accessories in. So it's like, wow all that for an umbrella... I actually dont feel bad for not participating. It feels like the smart choice x)

I suppose it's also worth a note that naturally playerbase will diminish over time and so the only people queuing will be the tryhards (unless they do fomo rewards again) and so every season itll probably be harder to rank in than the last. I can see it going the same way as the feast eventually. A small community of extremely dedicated players

There was 20 seasons of Feast and in many of them you had to start from 0 each time and later on there were like years of non stop seasons with unique rewards. If they have learned anything they should keep the rewards same for top 100 so there is no need to bind yourself into this game mode for years Also in the future battle pass will have different reward so you could do ranked again or just play the other PvP modes

Better rewards would be great, imagine if you'd get extra exp from completing a match based on your rank or something. Current exp is kinda meh for CC.

As for playing more? Definately. I'm likely to get top 100 on my main this season so I will probably try for top 30 next.

I'll just stick to casual CC unless there are new rewards. Already got the Crystal plate and I'd rather piss a cactus out my winky than dedicate the time to get in the Top 100.

I'll play ranked because it'll end up with better matchmaking and if it stays fun I'll play enough to grind back to crystal. But having done it once I don't feel compelled to grind for the sake of rank. That's how it went for me with League back in the day: achieve a rank that I was pleased with, proving to myself that I could get it, and never bother with it again.

I'll come back for Season 2, but I'm not gonna spam matches like the first time. Just gonna play a couple whenever I feel like it.

Can't play right now, or I risk losing my top 100 spot (I'm probably too rusty to keep winning). And I've got all the rewards already. So I'm actually looking forward to the new season. Probably will climb on different jobs this time around.

If you're burned out on it, that's fine, it's not for everyone. I would be honestly amazed if any kind of PvP was popular in FFXIV for more than a couple months. There's not enough depth to the PvP combat, and PvP modes are barely connected with the rest of the game, since it only gives cosmetic rewards (and a little bit of currency). Because obviously FFXIV isn't a PvP game.

But it's still fun enough to play a few matches every now and then, imo.

Aye, the camera is particularly obnoxious on VH, especially for shorter characters. Playing a Lalafell on that map is LalaHELL.
