If this was solely about chasing money Yoshi wouldn't be so openly against having anything shop related in the main game. And before you talk about shop prices he doesn't decide those nor does he run that side iirc. Also why give more space is the main goal is money? The extra 400 lets people get rid of 2 retainers. That's a loss in revenue should folks decide to do that. Sorry but ill never believe its just cut n dry money chasing until I start seeing some actual anti consumer crap get added to the game

Unlimited storage you pay for, perhaps.

Blade & Soul totally eliminates the need to mix-and-match. Clothing/armor appearances do not have stats and are kept in a wardrobe where you can exchange them. It's a nice enough system, in that you can switch from PvE to PvP in-game simply by switching out your 'costume'. And they sell glamours, and they sell access to the wardrobe slots themselves, so it's win-win for that Free to Play game.

You don't pay for unlimited storage of dyes and apparel in GW2. It's built right into the database tagged to each character.

thats just it... "built right in"

we have no ideas of how the original glam system was implemented or how the code works. if it wasnt actually built in from day one, who knows for sure what they have to deal with. OR maybe it was, and is part of 1.0. either way, I am sure Yoshi and teh team would love for it to go away so people have one less thing to complain about. though, as he says, people will complain about it no matter what they do.

I love the tongue-n-cheek response he had because he's like me "yeah we have it in the plan to go up to 800 slots, but they'll complain again after awhile and then ask us for 1200". It's a fair response, 800 likely won't be the last limit. As more big-city instance overhead is added to the game they can certainly expand it more. Might be a few years until they need to.

When context or what that entails is left out? Sure I'd say so. But I felt nothing anti consumer about buying my street wear. They took the extra time to create it and I bought it (for a decent price imo) because I loved the way it looks. Where's the anti consumerism there? Or are you one of those that feels it all should just be free (despite most things being just that already)? You want to talk anti consumer with shops head over to the Diablo Immortal threads.

That Cashshop isn't selling anything that makes the Game Pay-to-win.
Its just cosmetics and a few optional things. The game itself has PLENTY of rewards you can work and grind for, so its not like the Majority of it is going to the cashshop.

So no, FFXIVs Cash Shop is NOT Anti-Consumer.
If you want Anti-Consumer, go back to Battlefront 2 Before the Overhaul
