We knew it wouldn't be, but hey, here's a thread.

Finally, I can dance around my desk singing, "I told you so, I told you so!"
Well, maybe not because it's a corner desk. So, yeah I guess this thread will have to do.
It sounds a lot closer to doman enclave with more features. I'm really happy with the information they've presented, I'm a tad, just a very bit tad disappointed it'll be separate gardening, but it's such a small con compared to every pro I see to this feature
First of all, everyone gets one for FREE. That is HUGE. No experience needed in land/hand. Accessible. Thank youuuuuu! This is what we wanted!!!
I'm okay with it not being housing. I think it was never meant to be, and people ran with it regardless of what devs said which is disappointing but hey what can you do.
Housing changes should be made to housing, we really don't need another bandaid system. I'm really glad this is it's own thing for everyone to participate in without really any barriers to entry.
They did mention customizable workshops, but they didn't go into detail on it.
Right now I'm wondering, as someone who never assumed anything big about island sanctuary in the first place, how Square can give every single person in the entire game their own private customizable island complete with a variety of shiny pokemon and its own unique economy and farmable resources, but instanced housing is somehow a tall order.

You perhaps but not everybody.
In my opinion (see what I did there?) the last thing we needed was a completely self-contained system that will be abandoned by the devs after the next expansion releases. What I was hoping for was that it would at a minimum decouple cross-breeding from ward housing. If and when the devs abandon IS at least that would remain useful and take some of the demand pressure off ward housing sales.
The ward housing system and probably how their instancing tech works needed a complete overhaul or rewrite. It is a very tall order. My SWAG (and hope) is that IS is a volume test for future work. They did mention customizable workshops, but they didn't go into detail on it.

From what they talked about today it sounds like its basically the garrisons from WoD which is kinda what I was expecting it to be.
Praising the accessibility of the content feels like a bit of a low bar to have set, considering you can get all DoH and DoL to 90 in a single week. You can get 1 crafter to 90 in a single day.
That being said, the content isnt necessarily my cup of tea but I can see why others will like it. I'll probably drop into it to check things out, but can't see myself Animal Crossing the days away. If the scale of the island is as large as it seemed to be I'll be impressed.
I rather pay for proper housing, than having a band aid feature thats only half work and very quickly also runs into limitations. A seperated minigame without any benefits in the main game is on that just like chocobo racing. For most players completely obsolete from the start.
So it being free doesnt make any diffirence here.
(and yes, i dont know all the details. but thats something you will only know upon release. devs stating it has effects can be as weak as 'it gives some glams')
Island Sanctuary is a farm simulator properly aim at those who claim they need garden for cross breeding
Now they can have apartment and a working farm
