I'm pretty sure people who loved Hildebrand and silly story lines have always been here. Just not everyone likes the same sort of content.
Ahem, 4 DLCS of skippable cutscenes. Most of Hildibrand is cutscenes, so catching up is quick and easy if you're not a fan of the humor.Just so we all know how those kettle quests work: you do relic first, learn some lore for Zodiark Braves, and only after the relic is done you have a meme quest about a kettle.
What we have now though, you have 4 DLCs of not-every-one's-cup-'o-tea humor to get to the start of relic quest.
I could never get into the hildibrand quests, and even at times I disliked Bozja. But if I'm being forced to pick between Bozja and this, then I pick Bozja all day every day. So no new field operations?
Incredibly based of Yoshi P to tie the Hilde questline to the Relic. Takes no time to skip the quest if you dont like it.
These people were not being catered to directly in the MSQ and now in relic content in the way that is happening now. Looks like with "quest centric progression" we've lost the exploratory zones as well.

Hildibrand has always been a beloved part of this game, all the way back to ARR. They brought him back when they hadn't planned to because the demand was made loud and clear to them.
Did they say Relic was going to be tied to MSQ this time? It's not always so I must have missed that. If you could cite sources I would greatly appreciate it.
And now we finally have a solid reason not to mix try-hard relic farmers with easy-going Hildy fans. Not to offend the guy, but people always liked him for silly humor, not for weapons. We like Gerolt for weapons and Rowena for bullying Geralt into making said weapons. They don't need third party in their perfectly dysfunctional relationships.
