A lot of hildibrand content is condensed into cutscenes so it is relatively easy to skip through if that's not your kind of humor.
I see where you're coming from and do not disagree, to an extent. I've met all kinds of players here and have had great discussions. I can't deny though that a lot of the threads are usually super negative, especially on patch and PLL days. I don't expect everyone to like everything they release (lord knows I don't), so it's fine that people dislike the idea of this content or hate it when it comes out. Just saying there is always a lot of negativity on the forums, that's all.I don't think that's true at all. I've been posting here for quite some time and it's certainly been a mixed bag at times though I've met many wonderful individuals by coming here and engaging in debates and discussions about various aspects of the game. It's unfortunate if your experience has been different.

Yeah! Exactly! Both bubbles are optional, but one is for people who just wanna have a good laugh, and the other is for people who want shiny boomstick! Normally, people with shiny boomsticks do not laugh.Yeah, I'm not a fan. Hildibrand isn't everybody's cup of tea which is precisely why it was hidden away in its own little bubble and left optional. Technically relic weapons are optional as well but linking the two together strikes me as a very strange choice. Especially since we saw the Return to Ivalice/Save the Queen storyline artificially shortened.
Also, how can we go from deep emotional story of Borja to a highlander in underwear?
I love this idea but dear lawd forbid we have fun I guess.
In the end of the day it's a narrative driven game and it really doesn't take long at all to skip if you don't want to actually do it.
You also have like two months to do it.....
You can't do it in two months?
This is true too, I personally love Eureka and Bozja ( altho Bozja's zones were a bit repetitive, but the raids and fate bosses were great ).This whole thread boils down to: It's ok if you don't like this content or Hildebrand. Plenty of people disliked Bozja and Eureka as well. They can't make everyone happy all the time. Personally I'm excited to see what Eorzea's greatest blacksmith and goldsmith will bring.
You have a ton of different ways to get weapons in the game too, relic weapons are one way.
It's literally impossible for them to make everyone happy, but I really like that we're getting something a bit more fun this time around.
Not everything in the game needs to be super depressing or all about the horrors of war etc.
And if people don't like it they can skip too.
I mean people complain about Eureka and Bozja, then they do something different and people STILL complain.
There's just no winning for them here.
It depends on the design of the weapons. If they're just clown weapons in design, I'll skip it altogether. If they're decent and can be grinded using roulettes etc., fine, then it's just a pity that any associated content won't be of much interest to me.
When the game's story becomes self-aware:
I'm also a bit worried the weapons themsevles will be outright jokes and relics do not seem like a great place for that...we'll see just seems to have been a poorly done revel to meRyuDragnier is the more neutral voice in this thread so far and you're putting on an antagonistic tone even for them, lol. Looking for fights?
I'm not going to scream on top of my lungs over the decision, because TBH I don't plan on touching Relic Weapons for a long while anyway. I do find it odd honestly. I don't mind the existence of Hildibrand. It didn't look like it's for me, so I didn't do it. Easy peasy. I guess there is some precedent for jokey quests being connected to Relic Weapons as I was told earlier in the thread... but this is uh, a bit much, no? If it's supposed to be light-hearted, why connect a legendary powerful weapon to it? People already didn't enjoy sitting through Ivalice content to reach Bozja when they didn't play in Stormblood - starting from ARR questlines is way more than that. IDK. If you like the quest chain, really, no problem. Even if I could bear the humour I hate unvoiced yet important cutscenes... looking at you, Ivalice. Seeing people clown and dance about while there's literally no sound coming from their mouth? Seems too awkward to me.
The way relics usually go is they're part of some questline, but then they have you do a bunch of random odds and ends to get parts for it. Run raids, dungeons, FATEs, etc etc until you have enough of the part, then hand it in and the weapon is created. It being attached to Hildibrand likely won't mess with the formula, but you can expect to see some funny designs and possibly a goofy cutscene when they make it.I'm not going to scream on top of my lungs over the decision, because TBH I don't plan on touching Relic Weapons for a long while anyway.
