Aren't the voiced lines typically advancing at about the rate as the speakers are speaking anyway? It appears to me that the system uses average voicing speed in relation to number of words at default speed. It even takes gaps and stutter into account as they appear in the text.

When I'm reading scenes out loud the auto-advance also goes at about my speed.

I've had auto-advance actually advance the text before the voice actors finish. It's not by a whole lot but by 10 seconds it can be annoying.

That might be the occasional long dialogue boxes that overflow into a second box?

Agreed on the main topic – different settings for voiced and non-voiced would be good.

Another thing I'd find useful is an indicator of when the box is going to auto-advance. Sometimes I want to manual-override it and then hit the button just as it changes, so I skip the new box instead.

as true as this is, i didn't mean just the voice-acted ones. if you keep the skip option enabled and there is no voice acting in a cutscene, it skips way too quickly that you barely even read a few words in before it skips to the next dialogue. it works fine in voiced cutscenes though, but it got so bad that i had to disable the feature altogether.
