    No. Ultimates make use of LB3 by making it so you don't cheese a DPS check and then attempt to survive a non-survivable mechanic that requires healer LB3 (survive doom) or tank LB3 (Save HW boy in DSR). This is how they enforce the party to pass a mechanic without fail.

    If they want to make Tanks feel badass they need to do what they did in the Susan or Memoria Misera fight

    Either that or get rid of the LB reset upon a DC.

    They should definitely fix it so the team doesn't lose the LB3 on a disconnect and automatically fails the fight because of it. If they want to make that a necessary mechanic, they have to make sure the mechanic is always there to be utilized. Especially with how flaky servers can be sometimes.

    But I agree on the general idea of just not doing it. I remember an SoS run where neither new tank could get the timing down. Someone on another role who was a tank normally was doing a great job with patiently trying to coach them, but they still took three or four times (I can't remember the exact number just we were almost out of time by the time we got them their clear) and I believe we did lose a person or two and those who left were rather toxic toward the new folks. So I just can't advocate for mechanics that are going to breed that type of toxicity. The tanks were lucky they got the rest of us who were staying there come hell or high water for their clears, but their situation could have been a lot different with a less patient group.

    LB adds expression of how you want to use it though. the problem isnt the LB, but how on the rails fights are in general.


    some examples where you can be flexible in LB usage: you can chose to use caster LB3 on double dragons or on the meteors in dragonsong ultimate. you could choose which set of gaols to lb in p4s (or you could also choose not to lb them at all). you could tank lb cheese conflag strike in e6s or use the lb for dps. you could choose to tank lb the last mechanic of e11s or to use the lb for damage. etc etc etc. even in ultima unreal theres the tank lb strat for orbs

    tank lb in particular is something that is extremely useful when you actually play content where mitigation matters, even lb1.

    the reason LB feels redundant in normal content is because it never hits hard enough to warrant considering a tank lb, and the dps checks are nonexsitent so dps lb is unnecessary. and if a fight has no adds, caster and ranged lb might as well not exist.

    And tank LB was always totally irrelevant. And that WORKED. Then they came along and fixed what wasn't broken by forcing Tank LB3, and now it's actually broken. Good job.
    Umm...you do realize that Tank LB3 has been used as a required fight mechanic since HW, right? It's nothing new. And the EW fight is actually where it makes the *most* sense due to the tie-in with dynamis. The issue is the bar resetting if someone d/c's.

    So I just can't advocate for mechanics that are going to breed that type of toxicity.
    I'll disagree there. Toxic idiots like that are definitely a minuscule minority in DF content. We shouldn't be getting rid of entire ideas just because of a few twits. Action the twits and move on.

    Tank LB isn't required for The Final Days EX anyway? I've never been in a party that has used tank LB3 to clear it. But it would be nice if disconnects don't affect the LB gauge

    It's not, but there was a big fuss (at least on Primal) about using it to Cheese the double fatalisms. It was also good to use if people were missing from towers before Telomania.

    As noted above, it's definitely needed for the regular version.
