Well said. I think level sync would have fostered a much healthier solution than power leveling.Respectfully I disagree. level sync was great in ffxi in that it allowed me to party with my veteran friends who were much higher in level than me and it greatly increased the pool of players one could invite to party. it wasn't all sunshine and roses, but to say it didn't work in ffxi is just plain wrong.

Power leveling is a cancer that is eating this game from the inside-out.
That comic is priceless. <3

Level sync is pointless, who is going to waste their time lvling a class they already lvled when it is 100x faster to just PL you. Nobody, unless they were extremely extremely bored. Level sync won't fix the problem, because no one is going to want to do it. You really think i'd give up an ifrit/moogle/AV/CC party to go grind from 20-30 all over again? No. Ppl got crafting jobs to level, gather jobs to level, mats to farm, gear to make, gear to get, gilz to make; that leaves very little time to re-grind all over again, unless you are really that incredibly bored. And at that point, might as well reroll another character.
As far as this PLing business goes, there's more to the game than just grinding. So what if PL gets you to 50? There's so much more to do after that, it doesn't really matter. Ppl act like the only reason to play an MMO is to level. If thats your reason, fine, but don't act like PLing somehow ruins the game. It made the game quite fun for me, and Ive been able to learn my class, spam dungeons, spam primals at will while avoiding the painful solo grind. It hardly ruins the game.
@OP: My suggestion is to find a lvling partner. If you shout enough in uldah, or ask enough ppl in different LSes..you'll find someone to duo with. You don't need a full party to grind, you can go 1-50 quite quickly if you find someone to regularly play with. Just one..heck even make a forum post.

Im willing to help, its fun partying. Fully support level sync! I was actually talking to a new player around lvl 15 and he said he shouted for an hour and a half and couldnt find anyone. Level syncing would fix this and it needs to happen!
Currently playing: Fire Emblem Awakening & Tales of Xillia.

I've always believed in the journey, but unlike the the writer I don't find level cap the end of the journey. Quite frankly, I find lvl cap the beginning, and everything else just a prologue. Thats just how I look at games, and how I look at lvling. Its exactly why I dont' mind PLing, because to me it just gets ppl to the beginning that much faster. Ive been able to experience a lot more than I ever would have if I was trying to slowly grind my way to 50. And as far as FFXIV goes, theres a lot more to do at 50 than there is to do below 50. I daresay there's hardly any content below 50 at all, minus a cpl dungeons and random quests (but i hate quests lol).Lux_Rayna, please, honestly take a moment to read this. It won't take 3 minutes. The problem isnt PLing, the problem is lack of interesting group content under lvl 50. If they revamped that entire process you'd see a lot more parties. New players would help too.
I brought this up nearly 2 months ago. Level Sync is needed in this game for people who would choose to use it.

As long as Powerleveling exists, I'm sure they'd simply opt for that rather than put forth the effort.I brought this up nearly 2 months ago. Level Sync is needed in this game for people who would choose to use it.

It's not viable to powerlevel after a certain point, level 43-45 mobs hits too hard to chains them all together unless you are a MRD perhaps.
Besides I sometimes wonder if Yoshi-p being ok with powerlevelling is more an issue of leave it as it is because they don't' have the time to fix it.
A lot of higher level players would be intersted in level sync because it would still allow them to spiritbond.
Did you read my post ? I already said I have someone to duo with but I'm not interested in monotonously slow XP with two people, I want a full party like the old days.@OP: My suggestion is to find a lvling partner. I do agree with you that end game is much more interesting than the leveling process , that's a different thing though, my issue is that I can shout for hours in U'l'dah, I can put myself up for seeking a party and still not find a party.
Powerlevelling is a massive problem, no other game has this problem, not even WoW with its hyper fast leveling, although I hear you can get your character auto'd to 85 now, how sad it is when players want to be handed everything like that.
