I honestly think they should take one page from WoW's book and throw you into a mandatory learning instance when you boost. Explain the job mechanics and have a little instanced battle with checkpoints showing basic combos, keeping buffs and such maybe even a basic opener/rotation. I think that would help somewhat.
thats essentially what these halls are for teaching you about your jobs nuances/tricks and not just overall roles (not to say we wouldn't have advanced and expert halls for overall roles as well but) i feel like giving out a rotation/opener is pushing it as that should be figured out on your own cause even some openers are fight reliant and rotations can be affected by fights as well but if they already know the more tricky/nuanced parts of their kit it will help them greatly in figuring out the order to do thingsI honestly think they should take one page from WoW's book and throw you into a mandatory learning instance when you boost. bumping the thread cause i feel there's something potentially good here even if it's not this exactly i would like at least some semblence of tools to help people learn their kits/roles in game best we have so far is hall of the novice guildhests and SSS/training dummies
We don't need any new halls for anything. Just run dungeons. They teach you all you need to know. If you struggle with the EX3 trial, you probably missed some good lessons in a place like Vanaspati.
Updated MSQ roultette even gives a better intro to a lot of things like stack mechanics and tank busters. Everything builds from dungeons and the lower levels. There's no better teacher than practical application.
this isn't for mechanics it's for specific job kits (stuff like how to target ASTRO cards and preplan earthly star) and more role based stuff (tanks learning how to wall to wall pull what to do if they lose aggro while runing etc... healers learning how to handle panic situations and who to target with rezzing etc... DPS learning how to tank while their tank is being rezzed or for ranged phys/casters how to kite mobs while their tank is rezzed etc...)
i am once again bringing this up as it would help the level 90 players who still single pull, cure bot, ice mage, etc... oh i'm sorry i meant "new players" actually have a place to learn and practice their kits and overall roles
no i'm not being nice. people bring up oh but new players don't know any better or can't learn then proceed to ignore suggestions like this that would literally go into helping them learn their kits and roles (oh but you can't make it for the new players/force them to use it. they should be able to play as they like.) no they should learn the god damn minimum for the role and job and if they want to go above and beyond thats where htey can use this place to also hone the skills they learned
stop making up excuses when there's ways to handle the issues that are just being ignored for no god damn good reason. and once again no the whole damn thing doesn't have to be changed every god damn expansion unless the things taught are being changed or there's changes that affect them. and i'd at least hope the expert hall would be kept up to date seeing as it's supposed to show off what your FULL kits nuances and tricks are. if they introduced triple redraw or sleeve draw again i'd surely hope they'd add that into the expert hall cause it's kinda important even if you don't use it to get 3 seals just knowing you can use it to get a third card would go miles for some people
at this point i don't even care force it at level 50 and max level. people wanna not put in effort in then go play a god damn single player game and leave MMORPGS for people who actually care about the gameplay. i don't care if your here for RP or story or anything else if you aren't willing to put in the bare minimum effort to clear content why are you here really? you've got plenty of alternatives VR chat second life etc... hell SE is already turning the story mode into a single player game. i've had it. this upcoming LL is already gonna be the leaving point for a lot of people if things don't get better. healers can't even ask for more ducking complexity in their kit cause people can't even use their god damn heals THE THING LITERALLY IN THE NAME OF THE ROLE
if i come off angry thats cause i am, i'm sick and tired of people defending things that make no sense. you tell me why fey gauge or undraw should exist, or why AST when it was reworked lost nearly no healing capabilities but lost triple redraw and sleeve draw plus had divination not rely on seals anymore?
i hate to pull this card but at this point i don't care. people with physical disabilities are out here clearing ultimates and we can't even ask the general playerbase to ducking read tooltips or learn their job? how the duck does that make sense?
I'm all for it.
Even quick tutorial tips akin to what you get when you obtain your job gauge would be enough. Maybe if they did that they wouldn't feel the need to dumb jobs down every update.
King of Fighters XIV has 252 tutorials you MUST complete befoee being able to queue for a ranked online match
I did all 252 and when I queued for my first ranked match I completely forgor about tutorial #137 which teaches you to chain a special with another special to then finish with an ultra
It's a game played for fun and not everyone has the same idea about what fun is.
We're generally not being hurt by other players not playing optimally in most content. If you're running into players doing those things in EX/Savage/Ultimate, by all means feel free to vote to kick then from the party. If you really can't stand being around bad players in normal content, form a group in advance with those you trust.
Not everyone is good at figuring things out from tooltips considering how badly some of the tooltips are written.
Not everyone is able to learn by watching or reading a guide.
It's not an excuse - it's reality. Not everyone has the same intellectual toolkit to work with. What comes easily to some is beyond comprehension to others.
That doesn't mean they should be excluded from playing the game.
While I agree an expansion of the Hall of Novice would be helpful for those willing to learn, it's not going to suddenly makeover the entire player base. Many players will do what the tutorial tells them to do then go back to playing the way they want.
That's what happened in WoW when Silver Proving Grounds was made mandatory for Heroic dungeons in MoP. Some did the minimum to pass then went back to how they were playing. Others got their characters piloted through the Proving Grounds to get the requirement out of the way. And there are always players perfectly capable of playing better that don't just to troll a group.
It didn't solve the complaints that were getting made about how people play in Heroic dungeons. Blizzard ended up removing the requirement.
If it's not going to improve things, then there's no point in making it mandatory.
