There are a lot of ways to go from this but.. I 'feel' that this is one of those few FC specific contents to progress on so if they did anything to it hopefully they could add something else.
Like I've flitted the idea before that FC get what amounts to 'island sanctuary' but industrial / for FC, like in the vision of a Hamlet. Something really old players might know well from Hamlet Defense (way back in 1.0). Also for those who've played it, thinking akin to Dark Cloud city building. Here you'd utilize the reputation tab to far greater effect as players who are out and about add small amounts of reputation for the FC (perhaps like the wearing tabards gains you reputation like concept in WoW). Gaining reputation helping unlock NPCs, facilities, and services for your hamlet. With many many layers of progression, and newly added content- it would ideally take FC a very long time to consider themselves nearly complete. For helpful functionality if there was a shop or something you really wanted, but your FC can't or wont build it because they have another shop they prefer- you can visit other FC's hamlets (this is to promote choices, and reduce the implication of not mastering every single option, for each individual FC but also a bit of interactivity between FC/players). Adding hamlet defense and stronghold assault content as well. Other idea was airship related...
Then I think the relatively... Um.. visually non-compelling.. Systems? I mean it's mostly a bunch of menus lol. Is moving the submarine / airship to player garrisons (/NOT/ housing).
That said I could also imagine the workshops get moved into the hamlet, which could be really fun to get to see your airships docked / floating in the distance (and submarine). So it doesn't have to be extracted from the FC. I wonder if there is some sort of system SE could think of to help make some of the content a bit more.. pre-group organized? Like if everyone pitches in to have an airship get a mount, but then only one person gets that mount. I feel maybe that system exists is 'fine'.. but also might there be a more sanitized system that works just as well? I'd love to sit down and try to hash out a system that operates more consistently with the group nature in mind. Personally this has never came back to bite me since my FC is cool, but I can only imagine the unnecessary nuisance that exists for some FC because of course they'll let you help build it but they're not going to share the rewards of the group effort until all their friends get it first (or never).

If it's outdated content, then no one would want it and so it's pointless to increase access.
Of course, they aren't outdated. They are still relevant and so still useful.
Keep in mind that giving everyone access would decrease value of many of the items, impacting what makes them desirable in the first place. Is having a workshop going to be worth the millions of gil and months of effort when the items you get from voyages end up selling for 500 gil on the marketboard (which we've already seen happen at times with a few of the items unique to voyages) and house skins are selling for less than the materials needed to make them are worth?
Personally, I don't care if SE were to decide to do it but I imagine most players wanting that personal access would end up extremely disappointed in the result if they got it.
They should allow every player to have 1 submersible and 1 airship minimum without a house. They should be able to go to their grand company to send it off on missions. When you get a personal house you should then have 2 of each, then FC still have 4.
This is incorrect, the most efficient payout is extravagant salvage which is sold to an NPC for fixed prices. However if Squenix decided to do this, they would probably lower the value or remove them. So in essence the same would happen I guess. If it's outdated content, then no one would want it and so it's pointless to increase access.

If they did that housing exterior prices would tank. I don't want that sorry.
sagacious
On one hand, I can see keeping the airship/submersible stuff FC only since it's supposed to be a group effort type thing.
If they wanted to keep it that style of content, they could always do it where an airship/submersible is "owned" by a group of 4 people, who sign a registration form similarly to how a FC is created. Though this would require the 4 people to be able to agree on how the rewards are distributed(definitely would NOT advise rolling on loot for them). If they figure out a way to do something like that, why not?
Also, I honestly thought this thread was going to be about a "shared" workshop for homeless FCs to use when I read the title at first.
No, they should work on fixing all the currently broken stuff in the game before rushing out another half assed project that won't work properly.
Fix housing.
Fix glamour.
Fix healing.
Fix difficulty discrepancies.
Fix Viera and Hrothgar.
Fix the Market Board.
The list goes on and on. Instead of asking for new things that'll be broken and never fixed, lets get some of the current issues addressed first.
Adorable creatures with unacceptable features!
Hasn't been a group effort requirement since they removed the need for people to be in there. I make all the projects in my FC myself, it's easy.On one hand, I can see keeping the airship/submersible stuff FC only since it's supposed to be a group effort type thing.
