At this point any new content they release that is not instanced housing is a let down.

Can I build a house in it?

We can't figure out what our players want!

I'm still utterly convinced that it's (somehow) going to be the relic farming thing. Since it has exactly the same patch release schedule as Eureka and Bozja.
And they've pointedly never mentioned trying to force us all to do "New-Neo-Duo-Diadem-Omega, Attempt Number Five At Bribing People to Pretend to Enjoy FATEs Inside An Instance", yet.

All I read was that the island thing is going to be garrisons from WoW and that really depressed me, lol.

That's just a gut reaction on my part, saying it's going to be FF Garrisons.

I refuse to believe that the devs here would be that dumb.

But I also know it's not going to be what a lot of players feel they need most right now (housing and a replica of housing's gardening system). No timers in the content (which YoshiP has told us) means none of the existing gardening, which is all timer dependent.

I think they have been vague about that content because they did not know how many ideas they can bring onto the island.

The initial idea was probably really ambitious and a island like the one in Lost ark with instanced housing for everyone.
But they had to cut content for it because of engine limitations, game breaking bug's that could not be easily fixed, time and money.

So they did not say much about it to keep our expectations low.
But well, people always interpret more into something then they should. So they now have unrealistic high expectations and will 100% be disappointed.
And when I point out that Yoshi never promised the thing's people expected then i will be called a "fanboy"

I haven't really played Lost Ark, how is the quality of the island?

But I think Yoshi-p is aware this is the expectation and they're trying to do their best to meet them, that's why they haven't shared more details. Either way, just relax and see what they will announce on the live letter a week from now. It's gonna be fun either way.

I think part of our problem is that I very much got the impression this is being added as a result of specific suggestions made by the JP player base, which can have some content tastes different from the average NA/EU player.

We're trying to apply our NA/EU expectations to content that may have been designed with the JP audience in mind, and it's throwing us into confusion. It's not helping that we're not getting the specifics that would help give us a better idea of what's coming.

It would be more accurate to say that the NA/EU community may likely end up disappointed. I suspect the JP community will end up very happy for the most part.

While YoshiP has done much to westernize what would normally be a JP game experience, there's always going to be those parts that just don't quite click for us.

I still fear the next Live Letter isn't going to have enough information to satisfy our curiosity. That probably won't happen until the August Live Letter.

I'd keep my expectations tempered if I was you. I wouldn't just assume that Yoshida decided to completely overhaul the original idea. If he did do it then great! Just don't go in expecting too much out of this.
