Just because it will likely be outside what you expect it to be doesn't mean it will be bad content. Yoshi's point was people were making assumptions of what it would be and he was telling them to chill their expectations because it wont be what they want it to be.So, if the developers produce a terrible piece of content, then it's the players who are to blame because they shouldn't have expected decent quality for the money they pay?
Don't get me wrong, I have zero hype for this. But if Island Sanctuary is indeed rubbish, it's not the players who are at fault. Just because Yoshida told us in advance it would probably be rubbish, doesn't make it ok.
Not at all what I am saying. I am saying people need to stop telling themselves about what ilsands are going to be and feature. When we know very little still and the devs are not responible for people who lie to themselves and garner false hope from it.So, if the developers produce a terrible piece of content, then it's the players who are to blame because they shouldn't have expected decent quality for the money they pay?

enclave part 2 to temper expectations.
over hype is bad.So, if the developers produce a terrible piece of content, then it's the players who are to blame because they shouldn't have expected decent quality for the money they pay?

And if you're disappointed because you over hype things in your head, then yes.

Obviously, since said a few times - hopefully at least, but I'm not in the it will be 3 years of content w/ instanced housing hype boat, BUUUUUT.... I still have big dreams and hopes for the content.. Given they've delayed it purposefully due to fan excitement and it's been in the works for quite a long time.Don't you dare crush my dreams.... don't you dare.
But in all seriousness, i somehow doubt this would be another Doman Enclave-like hub, because they've been working on this since before Shadowbringers. Did people just forget that this was originally supposed to launch with the Shadowbringers expansion?
Really hope they were inspired by a lot of content, their own FFXI mog gardens, the games they've already mentioned, sRPGs homesteads, heck even WoW Garrisons (also lessons to be learned from it, in things to avoid).
;(One of the little tidbits that back this up is Yoshi saying "And if you want your barn to be in cedar, then you plant and grow your cedar"
I don't think it will give gil rewards, and I don't think it will have tradable materials. No MB from it, certainly no onions.
I still think it's a case of time-gated doman-like preset buildings, not a house, and you get to do a little puzzle for exotic materials.
'Showing your friends' will be showing them the exact same thing they have but with your material choices. "Oh, that's nice, you used Pine wood for your barn! I used the cedar, took longer to growm but it was such a pretty colour"
Edit: Makes me think when a lot of people get to see it they will do a rendition of Lahabread in the old Prae as he looks down in scorn and says "Pathetic"
I mean I liked doma restoration but it was quite simple, hopefully it's more interesting than that given the time invested to it and the discussions around it.
Since you've done so well before, just curious (no pressure if you don't care to), has the other side said much about this? Wild speculation, desires, etc.
Glad to see some of us are on the same page about where the hype and expectations are really coming from.![]()
The most I'm hoping for is its finally a place I can store all my outside furniture in I've collected since 2.0.
Tired of my damn retainer carrying all that crap around because the devs couldn't allow the junk to be stored in apartment storage. :/
That, and having access to my own garden finally. I want to make my own seeds and stuff for my culinarian job to use and not have to buy it crap off of the marketboard for crap tons of gil.

I only play for the big bosses we get to fight and maybe some story, but non of these crafting/restoring/slice of life content get my attention. There are games specifically designed for those things. the devs should focus on improving combat and exploration of a world they built. The empty zones of nothing to explore will only be reflected in the island sanctuary.
If island sanctuary is just for fishing farming and gathering certain types of material that we will be forced to use in relic weapons then it’s going to be disappointing. If it’s forced down our throats because it’s dead on arrival then please focu on improving old content and not trying to reinvent the wheel. Maybe put that energy in adding random versions of old dungeons. So we can have different version of dungeons to roulette into.
I just need a hoarder's garage man

Chiming in to say that "a focus on the house, the garden and the furniture, but you can see this as a bit of a rank higher, there's a bit more broad things in the mix" was taken out of context from a Media Tour. This sentence was used to describe the Housing we know to then say the Island will be different.Besides looking at FFXI's islands there is a summarization of somethings we know from ffxivgardening.com:
They've mentioned the people who make the content either play or were inspired by games like Harvest Moon/ Animal Crossing / Stardew Valley, etc. (But also said don't expect a game that took 3+ years to make be made inside of another game, which was to say 'be reasonable' lol).
I'm taking Lore way too seriously. And I'm not sorry about that.
