There is no taking the ugly off of the lottery. It's still a terrible system. There shouldn't be a lottery at all, only readily accessible houses.

only readily accessible houses.
Readily? so bots can come back and take them all? Do you really wanna ride that train that derailed already? might not survive this time.

Obtuseness aside, she's right Vahlnir. With how rampant housing bots were prior to this lottery mess, I highly doubt readily-available houses would end up feeling readily-available.
Square Enix didn't fix that problem when it was happening. Having readily-available housing would need to be properly implemented to circumvent bots as much as possible. And that's just not possible, since all it takes is one bot making a macro that they can loop.
Unless there is an alternative. Are you maybe suggesting something like FF11 where you had a room you generated for yourself? That would be readily-available housing, though it would do away with the neighbourhood system they have. Would this be something they could handle server-wise?

By readily available housing I mean houses that can be accessed by anyone at any time. Instanced housing is one possible solution. Or perhaps automatically generated wards. I don't know what the right solution could be though within the current limitations of the game. I just know that what we have now is not working for the majority of the player base, so those limitations need to be overcome. The systems we had before weren't perfect. Heck, I wouldn't even call them good either. But with the lottery they made the same problems that they had worse. We shouldn't be competing for what shouldn't be a limited resource. That is my entire point.Obtuseness aside, she's right Vahlnir. Out of 17 bidders, not bad~ I thought I was going to miss playing placard savage but this system is indeed better, they just need to add more personal housing (or instances) and we'll be good.

for real.
i don't see the point of the small houses. i just won one and it's like... 20 outdoor pieces of furniture? really? that's all? like i know to much'll lag everyone else because of all the houses combined but... 20? what's the point of a yard, then?
i'd take a stereotypical 1 bedroom/bath apartment over a house any day. like. just add a little extension to the current apartments for a small bedroom and optional washroom/closet.
