New EU/NA worlds - Will you go?

As much as it WOULD irk people, imo any time they make a new DC they need to transfer AT LEAST TWO existing servers to it.

They've done just this with the JP physical data center; they're going to create a new logical DC and move two world from each of the existing ones to that for an 8 8 8 8 arrangement. For some reason I want to say they're going to do this with NA and EU as well when they create the first round of new DCs.

I think it's a great idea, as long as they give people free transfers off before the relocation and a free transfer off the relocated server to others in the same logical DC after the move. Plant the seed potato and let things grow.

New worlds on existing datacenters will slowly populate over time unless there's some huge rush at start of next expansion again. People will move for the housing plots for example.

New Datacenter however seems more like future proofing after the Endwalker launch, if the worlds don't get suffled around (unlikely) it will be very quiet unless we get another rush. Some people who don't care about raiding and such (unless their static moves) might still do it because of plots, pvp top spots etc. but those are tiny minority.

EU won't be getting a new data center until next year. The 4 worlds they are adding this summer will be split between the existing 2 data centers so each will have 8 worlds (same as all the current NA data centers and as the JP data centers will have when their new one is added in a few weeks).

It's NA that's getting the new data center with 4 new worlds (no existing worlds) this summer.

Yeah that I know, but people were talking about next summer's EU dc, soI referred to that.
But then honestly it's pretty weird to plan a new DC is a year when they have no clue what the populaton will be then.

Social - I'd be cut off from my existing social circles in game while on a new world. Discord exists but not everyone uses it. For a company that prohibits the use of third party programs, why are they trying to encourage us to play on different worlds when that is going to require the use of a third party program for players to stay in contact with each other?

Market economies - the marketboards on the new worlds will be in bad shape for a considerable period of time. Listings will be limited due to the low number of players. Most players wanting to purchase items will find it to their benefit to either use World Visit (in the case of the new EU worlds) or Data Center Travel (in the case of the new NA worlds) to buy what they're looking for because the existing worlds will have far more listings at competitive prices. Trying to sell items on the new worlds will be difficult if the veteran players end up going to other worlds for their purchases out of habit and new players aren't buying much.

Group content - ordinarily I'm not too worried about Duty Finder queues since I don't have a problem going tank or heal if I'm not leveling a DPS job. But players who tend to play DPS jobs in Duty Finder may be encouraged to use data center travel if queue times on the new data center get too long, and that might end up impacting my own queue times even as AIN. I'm also big into hunts and enjoy the occasional group FATE farm along with the world boss FATEs. Lower populations mean more difficulty finding others to join you for open world group content. I could go to other worlds for these things but at the same time that just makes the situation worse for those trying to do content on the new worlds.

Housing - I have a house and enjoy it. It's an integrated part of my game play. I can make brief stops at my house to check my retainers and tend my garden while going from content to content. I'll adjust furnishing if not totally redecorate. Transferring means losing the house with no idea of when (or if) I'll be able to get another one since SE seems to feel it's better to leave plots empty for the sake of non-existent FCs than to allow players to enjoy the content. If I do get one, I'll be cut off from it if I'm using data center travel for access to other content.

Ultimately the core problem is there is no incentive for players on the existing worlds to visit the new worlds while there are plenty of incentives for players on the new worlds to visit the existing ones. And if players would be spending their bulk of their time on the existing worlds for access to what they, what's the point of transferring to a new world?

The new worlds may end up feeling like little more than log in portals.

As someone who was on of the first few hundreds to transfer to Louisoix when it first came out, there are many incentives.

Social - You'll meet new people. FCs will generally be more tight knit as well as the community. If you're not so social or even want the single player experience, this aspect appeals.

Market economies - ... as a crafter who moved to louisoix ... i made 50m in a week from crafting simple housing things. That's how easy the market is on a new world from the perspective of a crafter.

Group content - I mean can't be worse than crystal amirite lmao

Housing - New world = thousands of open plots. nuff said



there are incentives, it's just different for everyone and whether you move or not there are pro and con to any decision

Only if they can guarantee a large or medium private housing plot to those that transfer over without having to enter a lottery.
