    I just left my relatively inactive FC and, with some RL friends creating alt characters, created a FC. I'd much rather have a house than a FC anyway (even if it has to be a small), which seems more possible than dealing with <1% odds on the individual market. After the 30-day "new FC" limit to bidding, I'll hopefully finally get one.

    Another advantage of a FC is you can share a house with your alts if you have any. One of my biggest pet peeves is that we can't still with a private house and given that personal FC's are the way to go for many of us. I'm more than happy with a small and it allows me to share the house with a few select fiends as well.

    The amount of time SE has given to FC acquisition is simply pushing people to do what you're doing and I don't blame you one bit. Any serious FC would have been able to get their house in the first few rounds. It's not like it was sprung on the community we knew about housing for quite some time. What they've done only invites abuse with some buying up entire wards for air/subs and resale.
