Also, Final Fantasy XIV is one of Square Enix's most successful games ever and generates an absolute boatload of profit for them. There's fundamentally no excuse, beyond seeing the game as a soulless cash cow and nothing else, for them not putting the money back into growing the development team. There's several areas upon which old technical solutions dominate the game design (marketboard and retainer systems could also do with some nice reworks IMHO) but would require a larger technical investment to resolve. Even the core server infrastructure is pretty ass overall and was moments away from dying entirely in the early days of Endwalker.

We had one live letter a few months back regarding the next decade of Final Fantasy XIV which mostly focused on a graphics overall and how the patch cycle would play out (4 months instead of 3.5 months as the TLDR). What would be nice is a better roadmap for what features they're looking to implement or improve in the coming expansions. New home worlds and data centres are coming, for example, but that's just throwing more hardware at the problem of the servers not being to cope with the number of players without drastically changing the way in which the game works.
Unfortunately, SE corporate likely sees FF14 as a soulless cash cow and nothing else. The FF14 dev team is the only good thing about the current state of Square Enix, in fact I find the differences between the 14 team and SE corporate to be almost night and day to the point is almost disheartening. One only needs to look at all the other stuff they are turning out for proof of that.

And I agree, a full catalogue would be the way to go. That is how ESO handles it, and their system is designed to save all appearances earned regardless of armor type. Another reason why I point to that as the better example is, (as far as I know) is that you can only even look at the appearances at their appearance changing stations that work a lot like our glam dressers. In fact they even use their own tokens to create outfits in a way that glamour prisms could be used. Though this is for a single character and unfortunately not account wide. Which, lets be honest, FF14 is so anti-alt for the most part that the probability of us getting an account wide glamour catalogue is about the same as the sun coming up in the west.

How does this even make sense? The only time I've ever had problems, is when Endwalker launched, and there where severe problems with getting on for a while. Since then, everything has been fine, and I've ran through content, easily.
This game's server structure is ancient. Originally made for 1.0 which used a lot of ff11 tech and in the reworking for ARR they had to massively cut corners because of a lack of budget as ARR was never expected to succeed. Server storage is inefficient and has terrible scalability. Why do you think they struggle so hard to meet the housing demand? The game is running but only barely. So yes, the glamour dresser increase is absolutely a bandaid fix.

Now that you mention "keep track" and "buy things", I'm even more convinced the glamour collectable is doable. Achievement menu already keeping track of thousands of your records.
You don't need to necessary "buy" it, just obtain it like achievement reward which also proven can be done.
Basically I think it's very possible for them make 2nd achievement menu, but for glamour.

I'm not sure how heavy load Achievement menu is for the server, maybe that's the reason they haven't done it yet.

Dreamfitting is just giving players the ability to preview what an optional cash store item looks like on their character before they run off and buy it. I'm also going to assume this is the first step in eventually adding the game store directly into the game client like other MMOs such as World of Warcraft have done so already.

Dreamfitting is also entirely unrelated to the having a glamour catalogue either.

I'd say the lack of glam plates for each job is a bigger issue. I only put items I really really like, OR, are limited (like makai) in the glam dresser. I'm at like 113 days played and I still have hundreds of slots left. Although if you spent all your time playing Dress Up RP then I can see why it wouldnt be enough. I'll add a +1 to the suggestions to transpose WoWs transmog system. That and pvp are probably the only two things wow is better than xiv in, so I'd be happy for them to copy. It's easier, less limitations, etc.

But that doesn't mean you NEED them all in your dresser.
I already do. I've spent a stupid amount of hours sorting and resorting and throwing out stuff I like but don't have room for over and over and over through my seven years of playing this game.

It sucks. Hence the request for a less limited, more flexible system.

The dresser isn't for storing every piece, or it would be infinite. It's for organising the pieces you do have, and building plates from them.

There are more than 3000 glamour items in the game, having 400-800 slots will never be enough.

Either make an item unlock in the dresser once you have obtained it, or stop making content and focus on rewriting the spaghetti code this game is built on and FIX the problems.

Years of excuses, just dedicate a team to rebuilding the glam system from scratch. World of Warcrafts 'Transmog' System is a million times more user friendly than this.
Lose the WoW argument if you want to avoid rebuttals telling you to just go play WoW. Instead of looking at WoW, you should be looking at constrictions within FFXIV that prevents expansion of the glamour system. Try to be a little more understanding instead of sounding like an entitled brat denied their cookie dough treat.

They can't put a pause on making content to work on the glamour system, and it has been years since the last time the addressed the glamour system. The new plates we got, and the additional 400 slots we are about to get should provide at least a little bit of relief for now, so try to look forward to that. The glamour system will likely not get addressed again for a very long time.

If that is unacceptable to you, then that's just too bad.

The solution to this problem, which they seem to be working towards, is ease of reacquiring items. See: EW artifact gear. If they go back and reapply this to past sets and other sets, that will likely alleviate some stress over holding items. (They could use the idealized coffer items to unlock dyes on the vendor gear somehow and keep MMEX relevant.)

It's also something to consider when you decide whether or not to stick something in the dresser. Anything that's a quest reward can always be picked up again from the Calamity Salvager, so I tend to dump them.

i hate everything about the glamour dresser
but for me the biggest sin is that its separate to the armoire
we shouldn't have two separate clothing storage systems thats just making it weird
