I'm frankly convinced this thread won't have another answer even if we do reach 200 pages. Question is, does Square even read\know what we actually want? Even if we do compile criticism and suggestions, I wonder if they're even listening?

Is Square even aware its own community in this game isn't okay with the constant crap that's been happening since 6.1? That there's a lot of disappointment in general going around, and that many have deemed the Hrothgar situation to be ridiculous and insulting?

You misunderstand, I love the 9S hairstyle, would love to continuing wearing it, but Jandelaine cuts my bleedin' ears off in the process. How do you not see this as a problem? The hairstyle suits my tastes perfectly, deleting my ears does not.

Thank you for dropping by our thread to voice your message of support. I'm certain that if when the Viera hairstyles came out, if they'd lopped off your ears making you what are basically Hyur with Barbie feet you would've been OK with that, but I wouldn't've, and would have said a few things on your behalf, because I thought you got screwed.

The new haircuts are bad. Not "unattractive." Not "not Hrothgar." Not "look like someone tried to cover up my encephalopathy with a bathmat."

They are, in fact, all those, but they're bad for other reasons.

1) We're told "you have to imagine the ears." Ears are part of who we are, just like your rabbit ears are part of what make you Viera. Would this even be a discussion if the Viera lost their ears? Seriously?

2) I don't know what "lore" you mean. The lore of Hrothgar - and I think "lore reasons" is right up there with "it's company policy" in terms of lame excuses when someone doesn't want to do work - is that the Hrothgar came down from Ilsabard and started integrating customs in order to act as merchants. Haircuts are customs, so you may be mean, but that doesn't mean you can't be incorrect too!

3) The pictures were so bad some of us thought it was an April Fools Day joke. We've received one message from Tony "Zhexos" Caraway, our Community Representative before he vanished into thin air, and didn't want to respond any more. Or wasn't allowed to. Or wants to respond, but is pinned under something very heavy. I don't know, there's zero transparency.

4) We were told, explicitly "I'm really torn, why don't you give us your feedback on the forums." Now while you are important, and you do pay my sub, I'm gonna put my feedback here, in the forums, like I was instructed to. If you want to start a really whiny thread on the main page how everyone who has feedback is a whiner, then be my guest. In fact, you already have. That said, would you prefer that after years I find another place to complain, or that I start liking the haircuts for the whimsical tributes to Zika Virus they are?

5) I've been patient, and when I hear Square say things like "Remember the fans" and "no expense spared," I don't know how they do it on your home-planet, Cranky Space Lady, but around here those words don't translate to "Quit Whining You Non-Contributing Zero."

When the community response was largely negative they said "clipping," "you have to imagine ears," and "this is hard "

So, Icemage, thank you for dropping by to tell us how we should behave. How about in the meantime, you fanta to Hyur, pretend your ears are in your hair, and imagine you're still Viera. You'll get to use all of the hairstyles and headgear in the game!

No? The ears are part of what make Viera who they are? Huh.

I made a thread for feedback on this topic.

It feels like this thread was just a jumbled mess of accusations and frustration. People debated and theorized about what might have happened to make this situation in the first place. And while I won't say I understood nor added everything I could about this subject, I felt that I did the best I personally could.

So, as I mentioned here before, now that the dust is settled and rather than give almost 200 pages of back-and-forth conversations, I figured it'd be best to have a thread where we could present what we actually wanted them to do.

A thread without the voices of other races either. Nothing personal against Viera, it's just that it feels Square doesn't even listen to Hrothgar players, limited though we may be. So it's better for them to have Hrothgar-oriented feedback.

I hope they listen. I expect nothing, not even a dev tracker. Definitely not for our community rep to reply to it.

And I hope you guys find it useful to voice your opinion on the race to present it to Square directly. Actual, proper feedback as they asked for it.

To avoid another "Oh, we're surprised this was their reaction" scenario.

I feel like this would be considered more important if the director ever actually played as a Hrothgar; he should be trying out everything in his game some so that he can better empathize with a larger varied of players. Same idea with playing as a healer. At this point, I’m almost not sure what it would take for him to stop treating Hrothgar and Viera as limited races; how is this such a low priority?

I'm just waiting for someone to post those 4 advice or convictions, or whatever they were that Yoshida supposedly posted...at a point in time somewhere, so we can all laugh and then feel sad about how far he's fallen (not to mention that they were never really true to begin with).

If the director is directly responsible for certain major job changes or consistently downplayed race limitations, then he should also spend a decent amount of time playing as those jobs or races. Kind of rude to basically tell players that long-term concerns aren’t a priority without trying to empathize more with them first.
