The lack of Pride seasonal events is super disrespectful to the trans community

Kind of tired of companies coming out in support of the LGBTQ+ community only during the month of June, seems kind of like a cash grab at this point so I don't really care about FFXIV's lack of pride-themed event.

It's the predatory commercialisation of identity. It allows that company to tell their shareholders and donors that they support a noble cause without donating to anything worthwhile, such as cancer research or research into STDs, which would help the LGBT community. Instead, it's the LGBT community funding organisations to make themselves feel validated because they feel worthless inside. It's predatory as hell and worsens the divide in society. It's not that different from EA preying upon people's gambling addictions.

What annoys me is the hypocrisy of these companies they will push the lgbqt agenda in the USA while ignoring or straight up contradicting themselves in other parts of the world.

It keeps the social population of each region happy so you can't blame them, lol.
Think about it, if they were pro gay in a region where it's looked down on then the company gets blacklisted or "cancelled". if they are anti gay in a region where it's everywhere they will be blacklisted or "cancelled". It's not that hard to figure out why companies do what they do, lol.

This is true, it won't be Square US doing this, it will be Square's Saudi or middle eastern offices who will run their own business under the Square Enix name.

My point is why would you want a company that obviously doesn't care about the movement supporting it just for money?

I understand why they do it, just don't understand the people that support these companies being hypocritical

It would be a mix of money, story, and internal employees. Many ERGs do these things, which are employee resource groups etc. It gets them funding from LGBT charities which come to fundraising events, and by the end of it, they end up with another mansion, and the average LGBT member doesn't see a scent of the cash but doesn't worry. The struggle continues, and solidarity must flow.

Its a masquerade in a sense it allows people to put on events to socialise with people and to make themselves seem interesting to show they do white saviour work when they go for their next job.

Um, I mean, I never WANTED the company but i'll take it if you are offering! If you mean supporting said company then I guess ultimately it boils down to: I'm not. I'm just paying to play a game until it crosses THAT line and then I stop playing it. Who "supports" a company? They showed off a product, I bought a product. Simple as that, lol.

You just need to go to twitter and look at all their rainbow badges on the western company branch. And then the big fat nothing on their middle eastern branches. They don't give a shit about LGBT, they just want your money.

FFXIV expanding the female exclusive outfits to be available to male characters is more support for self expression than any of those companies have ever done. I think they look awful, but I am glad they have the choice.
