Week on learning and gameplay only for be able to put a color on your armor... That's... Well, i guess it's a thing...Why do people do any difficult content in any MMORPG? Bragging rights, generally via better gear or fancy mounts / other cosmetic items. Both of which this game offers. For example, only the Savage version of the gear can be dyed, the normal gear cannot. Also there are the bragging rights offered by a certain third party dps measuring website.
That's, pretty pathetic. One can tell when another is that starved for what should be a basic function. Seriously? Undyeables in 2022? GW2 had this downpat out the gate. And if your other reward is a pretty number on a website that's against the ToS, then WEW, that's bad.Why do people do any difficult content in any MMORPG? I don't want to trash high-enders too much, but said high-end content in XIV ranks among the absolute easiest out of nearly any other comparable game. Even the elites of this game are rather casual, considering how the devs took to the predictable "dance"-like design of fights. With enough memorization skills, you'll beat literally anything in this game. In any difficulty. It's just a cheap dopamine injection for many who either aren't interested in other games or couldn't hack it in said other games. The perma-enraged Rajang was far more difficult than anything XIV had to offer in terms of on-the-fly thinking you had to do and the rewards being unachievable cosmetics in any other fashion was the motivation. Considering the main point of Savage is to prepare for Ultimate, however, it has a huge focus instead on the effectiveness of that weapon, which will be quickly outdated.
Essentially, as usual in the end-game, the devs simply don't know how to handle their target audience. They offer cheap confetti and people have to make their own fun by constructing websites that would get them banned should SE bother to look into it.

Being able to dye those armor is a bragging right itself. The gear there isn't to make you super-powerful. They are there for you to show off your achievements. Like some bun boi that stood half of a day swirling his Ultimate AST weapon I encountered in Tonberry.
I don't get what you're confused about. When I said the game "ends", I'm talking about after you're "done" with the game, and did everything there is to do. I used Dark Souls as an example, but every single-player game is like this.
Since you're STILL having trouble understanding, how about hitless runs of Dark Souls? There's no gear or rewards for that either. Yet it's something a lot of people try doing. Some of them might just be going for recognition, but I'm pretty sure most of them do it because of the challenge.
Those are the same types of people that enjoy doing Savage.
I get it now, endgame in FF14 is about suffering, learning, dying and playing for weeks, to show your glam to the otherIt's a weird endgame, but it is one though
In GW2 you can buy BiS from the market cheaply, you can't buy Savage BiS from the market. That's, pretty pathetic. One can tell when another is that starved for what should be a basic function. Savage gear can be dyed because it's supposed to be special and give you access to something others don't as a reward.
There's the Agony infusions for Fractals but I mean what's the point of Fractals then?
Same as Savage and other endgame content in FFXIV.
This all boils down to '' wtf is the point of anything '' in MMO's and a lot of other games too for that matter.
Most rewards and content in games don't matter, we do it for fun ( hopefully ) or unique rewards.
If it's not fun then don't do it.
This is MMO endgame not just FFXIV.
FFXIV has a ton of other content and is well-known for it's social content.
There's nothing stopping you from doing other activities and there is more coming.
I'm not confused? You're just spewing utter manure out of your face.I don't get what you're confused about. Those are the same types of people that enjoy doing Savage.
Covenants, differing endings, invasions, blue phantoms, later on purple phantoms, build variety, etc. These are all things that contribute to Dark Souls replayability while none of that exists here. There's continued gameplay while nothing exists after the end-game here. You're conflating the point of an entire game with the nothing that exists in an MMO. Live service games do not, and should not, follow the same rules as their smaller counterparts. That simple.
Learn to keep your hands off the keyboard when you consider touching something you know nothing about.
The only "reason" to do Savage is if you enjoy doing it.
If you do not enjoy it, do not do it.
Do not let anyone talk you into doing it.
And don't let SE bribe you into doing it; as you noticed, outside of savage you'll get gear that's overpowered for everything-that's-not-savage in the same patch; get mostly equivalent drops for everything but the weapon one patch later; and gear that blows it out of the water 2 patches later.
I do not mean this in an elitist snob way, but don't do it if you dont like it.
Savages are a niche side part of this game that exist for people who like the increased difficulty. The only real benefits of doing it is getting the glamour and mount before people get it from unsync parties in a year or two.
They seem specifically designed to be pointless unless you're someone who enjoys striving for them. If you're not interested in the high end content in this game, gear you get from Agalia or from tomestones will serve you just fine.
I'm saying this as someone who enjoys them btw, I just respect that raiding isnt for everyone.
Nah, warhammer online wasn't like that. You've also been rewarded for your fight and the useful gear you loot helped you killing the other faction and taking their castle and capital. Twas fun
