Are Light and Chaos DCs still getting new servers this summer?

Back in January there was an announcement stating Light and Chaos will be expanded from 6 to 8 Home Worlds with the new ones launching this summer. Is this still happening and can be expect an update soon? Mostly interested because of all the new housing plots it'll create and I'm open to moving just to roll the dice again.

The Logical thing is to assume "2 new worlds per logical Datacenter in Europe in july" while haivng a safe ammount of doubt

Wouldn't be surprised to see them with data center travel with 6.18.

Suspect this is still a go and we should hear more soon. Looking forward to DC Travel personally.

I'd be skeptical tbh. Despite the massive hype around Endwalker and the congestion that came with it, which was what warranted the server expansion in the first place, the population has basically reset back to Shadowbringers levels, atleast on Light.

Maybe its true, but in my opinion I think we have more active players now than before WoW exodus, which warrants a new servers. I don't think we want to reach the point of congestion again anytime soon.

I've not heard anything, but then Materia was announced then just appeared later. So, likely July is still looking good.

Expect the same 90 day housing lockout, so that FC's can be formed and leveled to 6. That puts the first lotto for housing for these extra servers into December.



And just in case anyone wanted the last announcement:

Currently, the European data center comprises two data centers and 12 Worlds (a 6:6 configuration). In order to accommodate the substantial increase in player population, we are planning a major server expansion in two phases, similar to that planned for the North American data center. Due to the ongoing global semiconductor shortage, it will take time for requisite server equipment to be delivered. As such, the first phase of this expansion is scheduled for July 2022, while the second is scheduled for the summer of 2023.

In the first phase of the expansion, scheduled for July 2022, a total of four new Worlds will be added, two under each of the logical data centers presently housed in the European Data Center. In the second phase, one new logical data center will be established and eight new Worlds will be added under it, resulting in a three-logical-DC configuration of 8:8:8. The aforementioned semiconductor shortage requires we carry out this upgrade in two stages, and we ask for your understanding and patience as we continue making preparations.

What’s more, in anticipation of further expansion, we are working to secure floor space for a fourth logical data center. Preparations are also being made in the event the addition of this logical data center is needed earlier than anticipated.

Never saw the cities so full and I've been playing this game a long time. We're getting the data center expansions they've already been announced. They don't just decide to change their mind this has been in the works for awhile now.

The new DC next summer is a bigger concern than two new home worlds for the existing ones. Populating two new worlds on Light/Chaos will be fine as players can spread out and keep playing with their existing player base without relying on DC visit. However, populating an entirely new DC and establishing a raiding scene etc is going to take a lot of time and may not even work out. I guess they'll have to completely lock Light and Chaos for character creation or transfers to encourage people to join a blank slate?

If I remember correctly, data center travel is happening at the same time as the JP data center reorganization (a new logical data center is being added and the existing worlds redistributed).

New EU worlds should be about a month later, and new NA data center + worlds another month after EU.
