Well i've said it before and I'll say it again, Improvisation is bad and the Healer in my party agreed. While everything was on cooldown, they would rather use Rescue than see me get a stack or two of heals and shields.I almost never see topics about issue's with Dancer coming up on here which has me wondering just what kind of pop Dancers have?
If they are so low they aren't being represented.... isn't that a sign something is wrong with the job and its design?
Not going to pretend I have any answers to that, this topic isn't even about one specific issue of any kind with the Job.
I'm just wondering what kind of population we have and why its so low compared to most other jobs?
Or are its players just the quiet type? (Despite playing a flashy Job)
I would actually really love it if there was some tempo-up mechanic between your bursts. Build up your speed until the Technical Finish resets it, you do your hectic burst, then you get a breather and go slow again gradually picking up until the next burst.Other than slightly lower DPS, which SE has already acknowledged they want to fix, the dancer plays fairly well. There are a few things i would like to see just personally, but i like the core of the class.
I kinda wished this class had the +20% GCD speed that monks had, i feel like dancer would fit well as the ranged "faster paced" class as its identity is based on rhythm already. Since this class doesn't have a ton of OGCDs (assuming you don't have Fans Saved up), then it feels like there is a lot of downtime between button presses. And that makes NOT getting a proc feel even worse. This class would feel so much more fun if it was a little faster paced.
I actually really like the playstyle of dancer. I like proccing abilities, i like the RNG nature.
Other than that, i wish they could add in one or two more sound effects to choose from when using dance skills. The "Tambourine" sound doesn't fit everyone, and it would be nice to be able to have a few to choose from. Just by adding other options they could remove the stigma of it being the "Girl" class by giving it some more badass sounds when performing your dances. I tend to lean more towards darker classes, and it just feels like im meming myself when i swap from Dark Knight into Dancer and start shaking a tambourine around.
Oh, and after coming back to DNC recently, it feels like their abilities unlock levels went up even more? It always felt like they were too high. You don't even unlock Closed Position, your CORE class identity, until 60. It feels pretty bad when you do roulettes as a dancer and you don't even get to buff your ally, which is kinda what your class is built around.
I also feel like the fact that En Avant has two traits to add charges to it is redundant. It should start with 2 charges as soon as you unlock it, and have one trait to add a third. Just seems unnecessary.

I feel Improv is pretty good when you want an extra regen, but the only times you should really have it active for the shields are phase transitions where you can't do anything or have anything to do until it's done...like EW trial 2 EX's jump after adds phase (the boss is gone for like 12-15s). Outside of that you'd really just weave it like any other oGCD if you really need the regen.
One thing that just popped to mind, I wish we had our own Performance mode like Bards, but instead of music, we chain together some dance moves unique to the class.
Maybe a combo system like beatemups where button combos pull off different dance performances.
With the number of Nightclubs in the game now, i feel it would fit very well.

Copyright this quote...because I can't be the only person thinking it may be the best description of most MMO play ever written, and I really want to make a signature, avatar quote, something.
LMAO.
A tip if you want. Thanks everyone, some good replies here.
Im not a fan of how much i have to watch my hotbars instead of boss mechanics or my DPS gets tanked BUT I still choose to main it and enjoy it more than any other I have played.
My primary gripe with dancer, THERE ARE JUST NO GOOD GLAMS!
Everything's for Mech or Bard, even our Late Allagan gear shares the tank appearance when id love it was the Ninja/DRG one instead XD
Anyway ty all for the replies. Was a good read.
You can use the macro /micon "Standard Step" to create unclickable icons that will still show the cooldowns and all that and set them like I have in the screenshot I'll attach ( yes, I am ridiculously poor lol ).
I also have my personal buffs and dots in easier to follow spots, I have basically centered the most important things to pay attention to in the middle of the screen.
Even with your 1234 combo you could put up 3 and 4 for example to see if one of them procced.
Tbh I feel like NIN has a lack of glams that looks like they actually were made for NIN.I do tend to pop up once a thread to say this, but I think there are a lot more dancer glamours than people give credit for. I do agree I would have liked them to share with ninja, but some the good dancery scouting pieces share models with aiming anyway (Torrent, Ala Mhigan/Ovim, Ghost Barque/Brightlinen) and there are still a good number of aiming pieces to work with.
I've written a list before – it got long and I won't pull it out this time, but I've made dancer glamours for my own characters with the Yafaemi/Facet, Sagittarius, Torrent, Ovim and Paglth'an body pieces, and there are more pieces that I still want to use. Also the Torrent armguards are great for adding frilly sleeves to anything.
I'd like to see some more gear that is designed a bit more specifically for Jobs.
I mean you could still use it on others too and make it work, but like with the Radiant gear for example why does my NIN look like a spellcaster in it lol?
