It was never that deep. You accuse me of rambling when in fact it's exactly what you're doing. If we're going to diminish every argument to asking questions about culture since the dawn of times we're never gonna get to the point - it's pure sophistry. Let's focus on what we have now, which is not good. Oh and by the way, it's us who revived those shunned artists and musicians still, it was us who decided they were good in the end, so I don't see why would you bring that up. Unless you're trying to say that EW's story is a hidden gem and people are just too dumb and don't get it. If you are - please do not reply. So your argument is "it is because it is"? You have absolutely nothing to contribute to your ramblings. Nothing. What is "tasteful" has been defined by culture since the beginning of times, so tell me how your idea of "good art" is better than someone that was born in a whole different culture, from a different continent. Your ridiculous idea falls flat when a good number of musicians and painters were shunned and spat at for daring to do something different than the norm.
No, it is not. They have completely messed up the whole time travel thing. And some decitions the protagonists made are very questionable.
But overall, the Endwalker story is good. Better than Stormblood, IMHO.
Cheers
The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. That's a classic novel. It's pretty basic slice of regional life. Tom doesn't really learn anything by the end. But it's an enjoyable story.
But then compare that with the nuance you find in something like an Edgar Allan Poe story or the metaphors you find in something like Frankenstein. Also classics and also enjoyable for other reasons.
It's possible to enjoy different works of art for different reasons.
I thought Endwalker was good. It was just the pacing was backwards when focusing on casual moments, like hanging out with the Scions in Sharlyan for long periods of time, instead of focusing more on the big bad threat that was the final days; both Fandaniel and Zenos' version and the real one. Plus, it would have been nice if we got to clash with Fandaniel and Zenos more in order to better understand their motives, like how we got to hang out with Emet-Selch in Shadowbringers, and we got a better understanding of his character as a result.
Same thing with Venat and Hermes. We needed more time with these characters to better understand them, but our time with them were far too short.
Other than that, the story was good. Again, it was just the pacing was all wrong in places where the threat of the world ending should've taken precedence over us goofing around in Sharylan half the time.
If you want answers to the question of nihilism, Endwalker was pretty mid at best. Games like Nier Automata handled it a lot better. And if you want a love letter to Nietzschean philosophy, Xenosaga is leagues better. It's really nothing groundbreaking, regardless of its actual quality.Ain't middle school philosophy when most games, shows, etc, say the exact opposite. Most games have some 2D hero philosophy of no one being sacrificed and all suffering can be solved with effort and friendship. This is real world philosophy in a game. It's called Existentialism and was Friedrich Nietzsche's solution to Nihilism. Most works including real world philosophies preach slave morality or objectivism. Also it was quite thought provoking given it's answer to the Fermi's Paradox. That being a dead space due to Nihilism and even civilizations that reached perfection died to it due to post-scarcity. If it doesn't seem groundbreaking it's more than likely due to the fact you reached it outside of a game in which case, you're not the audience my comment was directed to as like me you understand philosophy.
Also I've more than likely seen more anime than you and also no, most anime goes with slave morality and the 2D writing found in most fantasy. Only some actually go for real world.
Good lord the time travel makes me want to bash my head into something. First it was a solid static loop with Alexander, then it was multiverse with Graha(which is fine, they're not mutually exclusive), then EW comes around looking all derpy with linear timeline!!!
And there was such an easier way to do it, the echo.
Yep, an established plot aspect, tying to the character's ancient soul, which would've made perfect sense to explore further in EW - nope, we need another, gloopy serving of time travel... with a side dish of memory wipes to go with it.Good lord the time travel makes me want to bash my head into something. When the game's story becomes self-aware:
A lot of outrage = Some dudes on social media crying
I still love this mentality. You are not the majority just cause you cry the loudest. Most of the playerbase is actually happy with the game and just enjoys what the devs serve and yes this means also the removal of kaiten etc.
Even if you would take all people together who cry on the forums, twitter and reddit and whatnot...it wouldn't even be 1% of the actual playerbase who doesn't give a kupo about you getting disappointed and spilling out your personal preferences all over the internet. It's alright to be disappointed, i was also a lot of times disappointed with some decisions...(looking at you HW machinist)...but to think that the "community" is outraged (at any point) is just being delusional beyond measure. And on top really arrogant.
The "community" is never outraged. Less than 1% is outraged on social media maybe. And if you are so sure that you fellas are the righteous majority, then cancel your sub and we will see if SE will notice it, cause that is where it hurts them. If enough players decide to just shut down the flow of money but you aren't doing this cause maybe you are way too much into the game and even if we put all people on the forums together and say they cancel all their subs, wouldn't even be a bug bite for SE.
