Housing lottery round 2

I have many posts about why SE should do something about the housing system. We are 8 years in. SE refuses to do anything, even when it means going back on their word. We have been ignored and they have looked bad. They still refused to do anything. They created one of the worst, if not the worst housing system in any MMO. Still refused to fix it.

They really need to fix it instead of band-aid patching it. 8 years and it's still like this? Yikes. The lottery doesn't address the underlying issue of insufficient housing supply. 75% of wards being FC only for a good while certainly doesn't help. The demand for private housing is greater, people want to have full freedom to decorate their own lot. They should have inversed the ratio for wards or at least made it 50/50. Or better yet, just make instanced housing already.

Super frustrating when my retainers give me exterior furnishings I'll likely never get to use. This is one of the biggest MMOs on the market, the housing system shouldn't be this poor. Other MMOs I played guaranteed I'd have a house at some point, this one's the outlier. It really stinks.

I'm genuinely leaning more on the "just make instanced housing" side; and I fervently believe everyone who realizes this is an issue should as well.
I think it's no secret that people who own houses don't really want the smalls. Of all the plots, the smalls are the only ones that actually just don't go quickly; they typically just get snatched up by shells and people who want to sell FC houses later. They really give a pitiful amount of space and their item limit is restricting. If people want medium and large plots and they can afford them (based on the math of rough average large bids per 5 residential wards we got on aether) we'd need roughly 20 more wards between all the housing zones to serve them all, and that data is probably skewed in that a lot of people actually also just don't actually like The Goblet.

Rather than just deciding its "OK" to shaft people who want a larger house because a smaller one or an apartment is available, they should just make instanced homesteads so no one has any actual reason to complain. At that point, you could own any house size you want in an isolated "middle of nowhere" plot. Maybe you could even pick the backdrop? As long as it allows gardening and outdoor furnishing as well as inside, it wouldn't be any different than a neighborhood setting one considering most of the time spent in wards you aren't even interacting with people unless you're deliberately going to a specific venue. Even then, if someone wants to host a venue, why not just assign it an ID people can use to visit it?
