Welcome to the party. We got other threads detailing this, as well as talks about samurai moving forward too for you to read. Check 'em out if you haven't!
Always good to have another voice in the chorus. CelestiCer has a combined megathread that is quite informative on this topic. Now we wait and see if SE really reads/wants feedback.
Speak the truth unabashedly! We want Kaiten! We want Kaiten!
i wouldnt just say kaiten, but everything that was changed - the conal->circular aoe change made trash packs unfun, as well as removes the positional synergy with hissatsu:guren. now we have like 1 skill that requires being outside of a trash pack, and no reason to actually walk there.
the changes were half-baked and all had terrible justification. the question "do the devs even play the jobs" is more relevant than I've ever seen, though I've only been around for about a year.
This is one of the things bothering me. Cones are fine. I hate lines, but cones work. Getting in the middle of the mob, on top of the tank, is not a great plan. It feels - well, stupid.i wouldnt just say kaiten, but everything that was changed - the conal->circular aoe change made trash packs unfun, as well as removes the positional synergy with hissatsu:guren. now we have like 1 skill that requires being outside of a trash pack, and no reason to actually walk there.

But had they not eviscerated the class by removing Kaiten, I don't think it would bother me that much. This change exposed a weakness I didn't know existed.
The thing the devs should think about is giving players the option of whether they want certain aoe moves to be cones or circles. Just have a little modification button in the job tool tips section that can switch back and forth between the two. That way, whoever wants cones can keep them, while those who want circles can have them. This is one of the things bothering me. Cones are fine. I hate lines, but cones work. +1 the based take
That's a good idea! I'd appreciate choices very much. (and I'd choose anything but a line!)The thing the devs should think about is giving players the option of whether they want certain aoe moves to be cones or circles. I can't recall which thread I posted it in either, but a suggested a toggle option for our skills to be turned on or off/switched.
- Tenka Goken, Cone/Circle/Line
- Guren, Cone/Circle/Line
- Ogi Namikiri, Cone/Circle/Line
- Shoha II, Cone/Circle/Line
And original Tenka Goken is literally still in the game, for funzies if you redo the Samurai job quest one of the Samurai's you face still uses the Cone version of Tenka Goken. As if they forgot to update some of those features, hmmm. but yay the important thing is that it's your choice, on what you find more fun. It's available. I preferred Tenka Goken cone with Kaiten.
