Said this months ago that the number of people we'd all be competing against would go through the roof, but nope...people just wanted a system that didn't involve camping and didn't care.
Ya'll happy now? System doing good for ya?

You appear to be conflating the issue of giving fair access to housing with the availability of housing. The Lottery is doing what it was meant to do. It allows equal access to all for personal plots. It was never meant to solve the issue of availability. THAT issue, availability, is still yet to be addressed.
We all knew that participation would skyrocket when the lottery started. We also wanted a chance to get a house without having to camp placards. We got a lottery that gives us that chance and a small chance is better than no chance due to avoiding placard camping.
Yes actually it is, in comparison to what was before. Do I like competing against 100 people no. I would rather SE just put in instances and put it on my bill and be done with it. But I know all 100 people had the same chance and same amount of effort. In the broken system that will have to do.
Nope. Hated the idea all the years people spoke about it. Hated it when it was announced. Hated it when I couldn't get a house from Ishgard. Still hate it now that I'm bidding against 100 people exactly like I said would happen. I would rather walk up to a house and just buy it when a new ward releases or 24 hours has passed since a house was demolished, like before.

Exactly. Some of us never asked for this bs but people cried so here we are...Nope. Hated the idea all the years people spoke about it. Hated it when it was announced. Professional lurker.
I agree somewhat, on the idea that lotto is inherently flawed and a poor way to address the issue long-term. However, I think the only reason it's this bad right now is because every individual player is stuck buying from 6 wards, while 18 FC wards are just sitting empty. When the system launched and Empyreum opened, the crowding was not this bad even on individual wards. If they'd opened every ward to individual purchases, they could have had a pretty healthy system for several cycles until things got to this point. Instead they did the dumbest thing possible and only really made 6 wards available, so we're seeing pic related on the second bidding cycle when this shouldn't have been an issue for a long time. Mediums in empyreum FC zones with 0 bids, while mediums in individual wards of pretty much any other housing area are exploding. Solo FCs built with this problem in mind are about 3 weeks old now, and soon they'll absorb the FC wards, effectively making the difference between an individual ward and an FC ward completely moot. Square continues to say nothing on this, while spending all of their time taking the game down for pvp issues.
The frustrating part is the system itself would've been fine for a while, but Square just made one braindead addition to it that ruined everything at the last minute. In the long term, the lottery system would have ended up like this. But we arrived here in one month because square sped it up by being stupid about individual ward allocations. Saying this as someone who's always just wanted instanced housing, for whatever it's worth. Lotto's not perfect, but it shouldn't have been this bad this soon.

Just wait for six months down the track when the entire server is going after 1 house. The frustrating part is the system itself would've been fine for a while, but Square just made one braindead addition to it that ruined everything at the last minute. I got my FC large, but long term a raffle for a haus is the stupidest idea out.
Also, the number in the top picture seems especially high but that's also partly because it is the most sought after location out of every plot in the game. If you go to the medium plots in Goblet, you can probably find houses with less than 20 bids.I agree somewhat, on the idea that lotto is inherently flawed and a poor way to address the issue long-term. that is an awfully nice way to phrase "if you look at the least sought out plots in the game you will find a few where you will have a slightly above 1/20 one time chance at a house bigger than a small"
