Whenever you're bored, I recommend walking outside and picking up pebbles. Honestly, if you haven't picked up every single pebble in the world at least once, how can you possibly complain there is nothing to do?

There are mounts pets and titles for FFXIV's achievements too?back in the old MMO i played, they would typically reward mounts, pets, and titles. Albeit, the mounts were usually recolored, and the pets were unimpressive. Occasionally, there were toys, but meh. And to put it into perspective on how cheap the rewards were, there was an achievement that required one to get all achievements in all holiday events, making it year-round chain achievement hunt... for a purple dragon mount.
And glam gear. ... admittedly a lot of it I won't wear but it's there.
WHERE IS THIS KETTLE EVERYONE KEEPS INTRODUCING ME TO?
Does doing that give me a achievement achieved pop-up window? If not, then it is just self-imposed challenge. May as well do manual breathing.
Seems like there is a bit of fighting... just wanted to remind im not saying you HAVE to be doing this if you are bored just saying you should try it out if you feel like me see if you like it or not. How I see it is just 100%ing a game which does make sense since yoshida tries to treat this game like its just another final fantasy title but its also in the end an mmorpg, so a lot of these achievements are very grindy.
Achievements are not a perfect system but its been pretty fun getting them and I think you should give it a chance too.

It's an expansive assortment of goals with rewards locked behind them.. nothing wrong with encouraging people to check them out.Seems like there is a bit of fighting... just wanted to remind im not saying you HAVE to be doing this if you are bored just saying you should try it out if you feel like me see if you like it or not. There's so much to do in the game besides grinding endgame ilevels, it's nice to see others checking it out.

Some people just like being mad no matter the topic. Personally I think it broadens your horizons on all the content in the game so it's worth at least checking out. Plus the mahjong titles are rarer and harder to get than the ultimate ones.
there's an old saying that goes "The reason you see unhappy people on the forums and no happy people is because the happy people are playing and enjoying the game."
They could easily incentivize people to do achievements by just adding more things to buy with achievement points and/or have meta achievements for reaching certain point thresholds that have enticing rewards.
As things currently stand I don't think it's a stretch to say that about 90% of the achievements in the game are fluff that don't have rewards other then the points themselves attached.
Achievement pet: Floating #1 ribbon.
Description: There isn't an explicit description on what exactly this magical ribbon is for, but since it's following you around, it must mean you're Number One!... in something!
