What you say may be true, however there is nothing in the instructions that explains what happened to the original poster. Again, it was confusion by the user [which did not lead to any user error], which led to the revelation of a flaw within Square's system.

Logic.. Why Would SE put you in an entirely different world with totally different people... If you DIDN'T want to move.. Logic says do nothing.. if you didn't DO the Application.. what's SE going to do.. Stop you from playing? Chuck you in a Different World with different people in it? No, they won't You (A World) just Merge with (B World)= C(Hello New people, meet my friends they are really nice).

Well its not so much your decency that surprises me, its that you expect the community to follow suit. He didn't get that quite right. You ASSUME customers are morons, not treat them like morons. By assuming someone is a moron, it's easier to design something that a moron wouldn't be able to screw up.

Where did they fail at customer care? -partial edit- OK, so they did say they couldn't cancel the request. That I agree is a problem. However, Yoshida has already stepped in to revise the process at least once to change the process. All might not be lost.

Here's logic for you since you seem to want to keep using that word: Why put the player's default server of transfer on their application at all? Especially if it would cause something like this because you know that's never going to end well no matter how you look at it...

Should the OP have tried to transfer? No, that's established. However, that does not mean SE should turn around and say: "Tee hee, you idiot, you tried to transfer to your own server and now we shall punish you by sending you to Ragnarok!" That's just beyond stupid. Would it really have been that difficult for the system to go: "The server you have applied to is already your default server for transfer. Application aborted."?

This is actually a good policy. Then again, you'd be surprised at how stupid a moron can be. I'm sure SE thought this was idiot-proof if they spammed instructions enough but, alas, look where we are. There's nothing you can do, outside of thinking for them.
