There is a difference between wanting to help someone who is getting legitamitely boned and someone who screwed up of their own accord and wants a third party to save them.

That analogy is even more extreme than my own. It's a difference of degrees. This person didn't hurt anyone, so there is no reason why mercy needs to be so alien in this situation.

But, like I said, do what you will. I don't know why, but you obviously have your heart set on rubbing salt in the wound. Whatever that reason is, I'm sorry it has made you so bitter. I can relate, in my own way, so it's sad to see people give into such things. I was hoping that the players here would be nicer to one another than in other MMOs, and it is disheartening to see very little difference from it and the communities of games like WoW.

Last I checked, everyone who doesn't specifically choose to move to a different world are all going to the same world together. You won't lose any friends or anything unless they choose to leave you, so I don't understand what your problem is.

I'm pretty sure I'm not missing anything here. Since the servers are being renamed, it's not clear which world is the "original" world and which one is the "merging" world, but it doesn't really matter as the end result is the same. Unless your problem is the name of the new server, in which case I ask: Are you seriously threatening to quit just because the name of your server is changing?

Oh no, I'm on Trabia and being forced to move to Hyperion! Whatever will I d- oh wait, that's where everyone else on Trabia that didn't choose to transfer to Ragnarok will be. I haven't lost anything. Nevermind.

I don't have this issue, but I looked at the transfer page and thought "Am I supposed to pick my own server? Or this default option? Better not touch anything.". But not everyone, evidently, thinks like that.

They should have put a confirmation window telling players they could get kicked out of their own server or whatever.

Its pretty simple. This guy didn't want to change servers. He is getting moved from his server.
SE should look at their files, see he is currently in whatever server, and cancel the server change for his character.

SE failed at communicating and at customer care.

And you certainly don't get an angry mob of customers raise up from their tables to cuss at the poor guy who dropped his paper cup.

If She/He would have read before taking action NONE of this would have ever happened.. we were told from the Gitgo What is happening etc etc.. If he didn't want to move the most logical thing is to do "Nothing" since your on that world.. so why would anyone need to to anything to switch, when they are on the world with there friends.. Its simple Logic...

-Instructions
-Understand the situation
-Think about the outcome
-Do you really want to move from your current server ( if you don't Do nothing)
-If you do want to move the choose desired Server thats NOT the server you are on
-Server Transfer Complete (end)

These things need to be running through peoples heads before making the action.. if you don't.. stuff like this happens.. Its all Users Fault period..

What you say may be true, however there is nothing in the instructions that explains what happened to the original poster. Again, it was confusion by the user [which did not lead to any user error], which led to the revelation of a flaw within Square's system.

There's way too much white knighting going on in this thread. What I'm saying is not wrong based only on the information given by the OP.

Furthermore, if what the OP says is accurate; there's no reason why Square couldn't, you know, actually use their customer support that sorely needs to be improved to investigate and resolve the uncommon issue. That's what customer service is for.

SE never said you MUST apply for a world transfer. People should be smart enough to know their character isn't going to vaporize because they weren't around during the transfer period or anything like that.

This is a world MERGE, with an OPTION of personally choosing to do a world TRANSFER instead.

Where did they fail at customer care? -partial edit- OK, so they did say they couldn't cancel the request. That I agree is a problem. However, Yoshida has already stepped in to revise the process at least once to change the process. All might not be lost.
