People with limited amounts of free time opting to engage with content in more efficient ways is nothing new. People just want to maximize what they can do with their time. What i starting to notice is the lack of players doing PoTD, sometimes takes around 10+mins of waiting.
Also is just wierd some people are like rushing cuz they have something to do or feel is a waste of time....im like dude...you're playing a video game....like you could be doing something more important with that time you spending playing lol

I prefer not doing deep dungeons for leveling. I only do that for glam or achi.
To me dungeons are more benefitial. I still have a bunch of jobs I need to level but most likely will not touch any PoTD at all.
To me, it is boring af with very minimal residual benefit.
Leveling with normal dungeons have so much more benefits.
Most basic to me is the fact that you get the gear which you can sell for seals that you can use for a wide variety of shit. (To me the biggest is to exchange for ventures cause there are items in the game that can only exclusively be coming from your retainer ventures)
The other thing is to desynth the items and get you to that 500-560 desynth level. Where you can start desynthing ShB and hopefully soon EW level items to pure materials that sell for 0,8-1mil gil.
Plus, if you wanna level above 50, and you dont have the tank mount yet, it builds toward that too.
Also for most relic weapons they are the fastest way to get the items you need. PoTD drops are horrific.
But i digress.
If I was running PoTD for glam. I would honestly be just grateful that anyone even still runs it. Whenever the last couple of times I tried to queue, I always needed to wait sooooo long. Much longer than for a normal dungeon queue. So I would be just happy anyone even comes at that point.

This.
I love deep dungeons, don't get me wrong. And I understand wanting to farm aetherpool for weapon glamours! But if you make a minimum time for each duty, then the people who make a full four-person party and are trying to blitz the floors to get jobs leveled will be forced to stick around on each floor for that minimum amount of time.
Moreover, for folks who are doing serious runs -- especially doing it solo -- it can be pretty key to try to get through certain particularly-deadly floors quickly, spending as little time as possible at risk from certain patrolling enemies and such. An enforced "you must be on this floor for X amount of time" could be really, really problematic for solo runs on the lowest floors.
And sure, you can go "Well, if you have a fixed party the time limit's gone, it's only for matched." And yeah, that can work from a technical standpoint. I just don't think it'll work from a social one; you'll just have people who want to blitz the floors quickly make PF groups rather than relying on matched at all, specifically to avoid the minimum-time-per-floor requirement.
And trust me, that will make matched way, way less active, because there are a lot more people who want to blitz it for levels than who want to farm it seriously for aetherpool and thus glam.
When I want to do a deep dungeon run to farm up aetherpool for a glam -- or to farm it for a solo run after I spent my aetherpool on glam and need more aetherpool -- I either do a PF, or I just grab my actual standing deep dungeon group ("Will Tank Floor" or "WTF" -- this is why no one should let me name statics or farm groups, people) and then do it that way.
(Honestly, having a standing group of folks to do deep dungeon stuff with is great. I highly recommend putting a group like that together if you seriously enjoy doing deep dungeon with any frequency.)
I aim to make my posts engaging and entertaining, even when you might not agree with me. And failing that, I'll just be very, VERY wordy.Originally Posted by Packetdancer

Highest level dungeon spam I believe is faster, but deep dungeons do have two notable benefits for leveling
1) You don't need to worry about your gear at all, so if your gear isn't up to snuff and you don't have spare poetics, it's fine.
2) It requires the least attention / brain power of any leveling method. Especially on PC, it's very easy to have a second monitor playing something on youtube or whatever.
Maybe update the loot in deep dungeons. Make chest more desirable loot on the regular floors of deep dungeons for players to go after. Make the chests important to open again. Loot that only can be gotten through deep dungeon explore. The current loot as it is flooded on on the markets, so it's lost it's appeal and all that left is the leveling.

I'm not gonna agree with people who think differently on this, but if someone WANTS TO get all the silver chests, they should be allowed to. Simple as that.

And should people not want to get the chest, they ALSO should be allowed to not get them. Game gave us options but you want to take away that option from another player’s perspective. How selfish do you not think that could be? Round and round we go, in circles.
In the end it’s the majority rules. Whether you like it or not. You can try ask your group. But best bet is to set up a PF.
Players can only optimize fun "out of" content to the extent that a given way of playing that content is barren of engagement.
If the content weren't set up from the start as a means of obliging mindless grinds just to stand a chance of playing its finally somewhat engaging levels we wouldn't have nearly such a problem.
They tried to grind-gate the shit out of any use of the content for its own purposes. This, squeezing participation of content in its own right down to a trickle, is what results.
It's been 3 expansions since PotD was added. Just offer a free head-start to and greatly accelerate the remaining upgrade process or be rid of it altogether.

But you are allowed. Just as I'm allowed to sit at the exit after I've activated by killing the required number of monsters to do so. If you want to fly off and get silver chests, I'll respect it. I just ask that you respect my choice as well. Besides, it's not like I can go anywhere until everyone's at the exit portal.
The only difference is that only one us is actually hindering progress through the floors should one decide to completely disregard the activated exit until they get what they want. I'll let you figure that one out.
