Island Sanctuaries might not be instanced housing, simmer your hopes

I don't know why everyone keeps running with this idea that Island Sanctuaries will definitely be instanced housing, but we need to stop assuming things until we have more information.

I'm honestly scared of what will happen if that ends up coming out to not be the case, and the fanbase inevitably melts down when it could have been prevented in the first place. It's one thing to be mad that instanced housing does not yet exist, but to go with a running rumor that has no basis, act like it will be true, and then be let down like the devs did something wrong is also pretty bad. It's their fault for the way housing is, but if the development in instanced housing was never a factor for Island Sanctuary in the first place, we will be getting our hopes up, and falsely directing our anger where it doesn't belong.

If Island Sanctuary does not have instanced housing, DO continue to make threads asking for instanced housing.

Don't knock out Island Sanctuaries if the rest of the content is good. Gardening might be fun, especially if it eliminates the need to have a house to participate. We need all of the housing specific features to not be dependent on a plot of land. It isn't fair to the rest of the community that wants to participate in airships,gardening, etc. I'd rather this not end up completely abandoned like other features.

DO NOT bash the devs, and act like its completely their fault that we got our hopes up, when the whole instanced housing rumor for the content was nothing but a rumor based on fan wishes in the first place.

You can definitely ask that they add housing to the island sanctuary.

I only ever read what island sanctuary is not going to be. What is it supposed to be though? For the secret hit the Live Letters made it out to be, you'd think the devs would give us some more information on what we're going to do with it. Did I just miss a bunch of important info or are they just hoping the hype will build itself? If they wanted to clarify nothing is stopping them from doing so.

island sanctuary will most likely be a stardew valley meets the chao garden in sonic adventure 2, just a small place to hangout with our minions/mounts and maybe a bit of light gardening (though the crops we can grow will most likely be limited after all gotta keep the expensive crops exclusive for those homeowners)

It might as well not be, but at this point the devs must know that this is the player's expectations. Even higher expectations are people thinking it would be something akin to animal crossing. If it's not any of that, it will disappoint.


I think if you have to think too hard about it, the fact they limited the housing wards to be only a minority for personal houses, and the vast majority for FCs, it must be because they have another solution for personal housing coming.

I've come to just believe its simply gardening with minion/pets on top. Gardening for those of us not lucky enough to win a house, and the pets minions running around, to have something nice for having a bunch of them, visually running around, while we do random stuff in the garden.

It has the potential to become instanced housing, and that would be great but I have dimmed my expectations down to that part something only possibly coming in the far future or something. Although Would love it to be anything like it.
In a way I wouldn't mind an entire meltdown, so the Devs can panic a bit, wake up from their stagnated slumber, and maybe give us something neat in content.

While you aren’t wrong, I think it would be a huge misstep not to allow some form of instanced housing.

I mean, if the goal is gardening, there are much more elegant and less development intensive ways to do that.
If the goal is just hanging out with minions, that is also cute but I don’t think anyone has seriously asked for that specific thing.

More so, if there isn’t some form of building to work with, I would say it was a misstep to have compared it to animal crossing, especially as gardening is not the focus of animal crossing.

They could have easily referenced other games like the Nintendo pets, tamagotchi or just said “it’s a garden simulator”. Even comparing it to side content in Zelda (fishing, bug collecting, cooking, gathering/growing ingredients) might have been a better call.


So,yeah OP- expectations tempered, but it still feels like a hole they dug themselves into.

I am fairly sure they stopped saying anything about them because people were having too much expectations for them. The moment they were announced I saw everyone saying "We are getting Animal Crossing/Harvest Moon/Stardew Valley" in XIV. People are were already comparing it to full game releases when SE probably designed it to be way smaller side content

I just hope its somewhere where I can at least store all my outdoor furniture in and that I can use for gardening.

If we get a tiny house or a hut we can upgrade a bit and decorate over time, then I'll be even happier.

But for right now, I'm only really hoping for the former. Mostly just ay least having a place I can store my outdoor furniture. I'm sick and tired of having to carry all my seasonal event furniture in my retainers! :'/
