Compared to bard, Dancer is in a pretty good place but there are a couple things I don't entirely like so I'll list them out here.

-Combining the AoE and Single Target buttons makes flourish feel a lot more "empty". The one during tech step isn't that bad since we have FD4 and Starfall to plug the holes but every off flourish almost feels like a pointless button.
-Not being able to hit flourish prepull isn't THAT big a deal, but the lack of optimization options is noticeable.
-Potency of Standard Step needs to go up. A lot. Button needs to be worth working around during tech step instead of being a lower priority than saber dance.

I almost entirely play in optimized environments so ill sit out of the personal DPS conversation but rDPS feels pretty good.

I guess that's about it? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I play the job quite a bit and I'm more or less okay with the job other than the small gripes above. I also agree with a large part of the points Eorzean_username brought to the table.

Yeah, let me clarify that I think Dancer plays and feels solid in a coordinated team. Instead, it's just that high-support Jobs lack a way to shift their contribution when they have no one to properly support, leading those Jobs to just... be worse than a more "pure Job".

Again, this isn't a Dancer-specific issue, it's a broader FFXIV design philosophy problem. And I wouldn't even call it a "balancing" issue, per se, because it doesn't really affect high-end content (setting aside arguments that I've seen around, about the general place of Ranged Physical in content). It's more about that sense of mild despair you feel when you're trying to Partner someone, but literally every other DPS keeps KO'ing before the cooldown on Closed Position can even finish. Or you're an AST in a situation where you realize that it's more efficient to Card... yourself. That feeling of, "My Job is operating at 70% capacity right now, and there is nothing that I can do about it."

That's why I'd categorize that complaint more as "Quality of Life" than anything. It's not something that I'd personally consider relevant to the "high-end" tuning that most discussions are focused on. But I also don't know how SE could really adjust any Job's pDPS upward without having to delete the Job's damage-support aspects in coordinated parties (unless you're a Ninja, of course).

Maybe if they made some sort of toggle stance that upped your pDPS in a way that's efficient in Solo / problem situations, but less effective than having a partner when you do have a reliable player or party available. Such a thing might also be a fun toy for prog / tight clears / slovenly weekly reclears / disheveled EX farms / etc, if you reach a situation where you don't have time to repartner. Being able to become Super Dancer™, at a slight theoretical loss, would feel better than just operating naked for X seconds.

But anyway, this is... so situational, and so far down the list of concerns in FFXIV, that I've never bothered bringing it up before.
