Honestly, the only ranged dps that is annoying to play is Bard because it is like a game of whack-o-mole combined with keeping ones eyes on the boss debuffs while rotating three songs with a 45 second duration. Dancer and Machinist may do less damage but they are leap years ahead of that thing.

I do tend to pop up once a thread to say this, but I think there are a lot more dancer glamours than people give credit for. I do agree I would have liked them to share with ninja, but some the good dancery scouting pieces share models with aiming anyway (Torrent, Ala Mhigan/Ovim, Ghost Barque/Brightlinen) and there are still a good number of aiming pieces to work with.

I've written a list before – it got long and I won't pull it out this time, but I've made dancer glamours for my own characters with the Yafaemi/Facet, Sagittarius, Torrent, Ovim and Paglth'an body pieces, and there are more pieces that I still want to use. Also the Torrent armguards are great for adding frilly sleeves to anything.

Compared to bard, Dancer is in a pretty good place but there are a couple things I don't entirely like so I'll list them out here.

-Combining the AoE and Single Target buttons makes flourish feel a lot more "empty". The one during tech step isn't that bad since we have FD4 and Starfall to plug the holes but every off flourish almost feels like a pointless button.
-Not being able to hit flourish prepull isn't THAT big a deal, but the lack of optimization options is noticeable.
-Potency of Standard Step needs to go up. A lot. Button needs to be worth working around during tech step instead of being a lower priority than saber dance.

I almost entirely play in optimized environments so ill sit out of the personal DPS conversation but rDPS feels pretty good.

I guess that's about it? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I play the job quite a bit and I'm more or less okay with the job other than the small gripes above. I also agree with a large part of the points Eorzean_username brought to the table.

Yeah, let me clarify that I think Dancer plays and feels solid in a coordinated team. Instead, it's just that high-support Jobs lack a way to shift their contribution when they have no one to properly support, leading those Jobs to just... be worse than a more "pure Job".

Again, this isn't a Dancer-specific issue, it's a broader FFXIV design philosophy problem. And I wouldn't even call it a "balancing" issue, per se, because it doesn't really affect high-end content (setting aside arguments that I've seen around, about the general place of Ranged Physical in content). It's more about that sense of mild despair you feel when you're trying to Partner someone, but literally every other DPS keeps KO'ing before the cooldown on Closed Position can even finish. Or you're an AST in a situation where you realize that it's more efficient to Card... yourself. That feeling of, "My Job is operating at 70% capacity right now, and there is nothing that I can do about it."

That's why I'd categorize that complaint more as "Quality of Life" than anything. It's not something that I'd personally consider relevant to the "high-end" tuning that most discussions are focused on. But I also don't know how SE could really adjust any Job's pDPS upward without having to delete the Job's damage-support aspects in coordinated parties (unless you're a Ninja, of course).

Maybe if they made some sort of toggle stance that upped your pDPS in a way that's efficient in Solo / problem situations, but less effective than having a partner when you do have a reliable player or party available. Such a thing might also be a fun toy for prog / tight clears / slovenly weekly reclears / disheveled EX farms / etc, if you reach a situation where you don't have time to repartner. Being able to become Super Dancer™, at a slight theoretical loss, would feel better than just operating naked for X seconds.

But anyway, this is... so situational, and so far down the list of concerns in FFXIV, that I've never bothered bringing it up before.

I want old flourish back and I miss standard step hitting hard. Tried leveling dancer from 80 to 90 but lacking that old flourish burst just feels... bad.

I prefer the new system of having only the two procs so you can combo between single and multiple enemies as required. It feels more natural to me to be able to mix different steps together spontaneously.

I miss the old flourish too - forgot about that in my original listing - it used to give us 4 procs to consume in single target situations and now only gives 2. Not only that, but 2 of those procs required us to move into melee range, which was a nice mix-up for a ranged dps to have to consider.

Like a few people have already said, I like DNC as it currently is and don't have that much or that major of feedback to give about it. It feels like its in a good place, gameplay-wise.

The few things I would like to see changed are:
-I wish I didn't have to "turn off" Closed Position when changing dance partners. It would be better if it was a one button press like PvP or SGE's Kardia.
-I feel like Improvisation's effects are backwards; Wouldn't it make more sense if the initial effect of Improv granted some form of damage mitigation we could use/hold during damage, then grant the party some kind of heal afterwards?
-Either make it so we can do Starfall Dance and Fan Dance IV outside of using Devilment and Flourish or just have Devilment and Flourish turn into them.
-Curing Waltz could have a bigger AoE (like maybe 5 yalms) but this isn't that big of an issue.

I would love if the steps had a small damage component to it. Idk, the staccato movements to me feel like would match tiny bursts of dps.

There's not much to complain about with DNC. Sure, the EW additions were pretty uninspired burst button bloat, but you don't need to reinvent the wheel every time. And at least the Flourish combo makes the 60s a bit more busy too, instead of just backloading everything. And it will be pretty simple to combine those buttons later on if they need to make room for more interesting support actions in 7.0.
