On topic, it was a major letdown to keep Garlemald behind the curtain for 10 years, only to reveal it as a smoldering heap. I'm even more surprised that there was basically no new lore revealed at all and still no new character models, with everyone either being Elezen or Hyur with a third eye on their head. Hopefully we get some sort of reconstruction thing off the map but considering the amount of side-quests that use the ruins, the main city we have access to is going to be dead forever.

Well the last Job role quest for endwalker did cover this being that currently all surviving Garleans are being moved to Old Sharlayan and if they choose move to the moon. Plans to rebuild Garlemald are on the way but they need time to clear out a good amount of the remaining Blasphemies before they can begin. Search and rescue teams are still being sent out to look for any survivors still hiding in Garlemald. The Tower is now going to remain in Garlemald to act as Eorzea's personal teleporter to the Moon for anyone who wise to visit or live on the Moon which is probably going to be a awkward story to tell future generations in Garlemald about why one of the world's most iconic landmarks look like something from a horror story.

With this lore, it maybe a few expansions or maybe during 7.X that Garlemald can begin reconstruction events due to off-scene events needing to take place while WoL is deal with the Season 2 MSQ events.

Gaius himself says that he doesn't want to complicate things, which makes sense since the last couple of regime changes led to brutal civil wars and he is accused as being a potential usurper. I'm not sure what the twins have to do with anything? Unless you're talking about the two women who ran away from us to their deaths because they're scared of magic and the Alliance and that's some how worse than potential civil war?

I also hope that the writers remember the Thavnairan and Garlean embassies in Kugane and that they are finally used for something.

I mean we already had like 2 people classified as garlean traitors. That clearly posed little to no problem. I don’t see how much worse Gaius being there could be as i don’t think any of the garleans there even mention his name lmao. Nothing a little talking couldn’t fix though right Alphinaud?

Personally I think Gaius just wanted to stop all this empire-building stuff and retire to spend more time with his daughter.

The sidequests are made to be able to be completed at any time. If they do something like that then you would never be able to do the sidequests if you didn't do them before and SE has never altered a zone to this scale before. Rev Toll and Idyllshire were both social zones with no enemies and no quests that are specific to "the way things were before". The Doman Enclave's floor map never actually changes, things just get refurbished and more areas are accessible over time.

To redo the city that we have access to, they would need to make a whole separate zone that newer players won't have access to unless they finish MSQ and older players won't have access to if they pass a certain point and there's no precedence for that so I doubt it will happen.

If you've sat through MSQ roulette as many times as I have, it would be pounded in your head that at least Cid was considered a legend in Garlemald despite also being a traitor.

Neither Cid nor Nero is accused of killing their country's leader though. They're not in the same category as Gaius.

I'm remaining hopeful that they're saving Gaius' MSQ involvement for whenever we have to address the lingering issues in Ilsabard.

The future of the Garleans is still very uncertain between them no longer having a place to call home, a lack of true governance, and a substantial part of Garlemald's armies still at large.

The have a place to call home, the place they are at right now, they just need to rebuild. Goverment comes with the rebuilding and most of their army has surrendered the only active fighting is over their ancestral homeland as far as we've been told so far.

I feel like the writers are just done with Garlemald. At most, I wonder if gathering or crafting tribe quests will be in Garlemald? I feel like the park could be progressive restored and add things to it. But I don't see them doing something like a Doman or especially Ishgardian restoration type of thing.

Considering that thats an afterthought, i dont see why him being there couldnt be simply talked through. What are the people going to do? They have more pressing concerns with the final days. It just seems like a bad writing excuse to not have him there lol. Not a surprise seeing how garlemald has gotten nothing but constant bad writing attached to it.
