Can we not shame people who don't like the MSQ?

I liked ARR, loved HW, loved StB (I know I know), loved ShB (at least the base story). None of the criticisms of it bothered me and I never commented on it. EW was a huge disappointment on numerous levels and it was enough to make me sign up to these forums to make 200+ cringeposts. Suddenly, with EW, it's a huge deal? Very strange and seems desperate... someone who has been here longer than me and disliked the earlier MSQ would have to relay their experiences to me. Was the defense always this rabid, on this end?

I love seeing a certain group malding severely while others are enjoying the content they are given, even with all its flaws.

Uhhh didn’t you know? Yoshi P is granting us the chance to play this game. We don’t deserve such treatment and we should kneel and pray to our primal. $15 a month for content patches that last about a week and take 5 months to come out is but a blessing!

The key word in this post is "mentors." As a general rule of thumb, you should just walk away from interactions with people wearing the Burger King crown. Nine times out of ten they'll either be giving you bad advice, getting themselves killed on easily avoidable mechanics, or attempting to brow beat someone that disagrees with anything they've said or done.

That's not to say all mentors are bad, but uh... well, let's just say the Burger King stereotype exists for a good reason.

It's not 9 out of 10 mentors. It's 9 out of 10 players. You just notice the mentors the most because they have the crown to differentiate them.

Honestly, I wonder at all the Venat worshippers sometimes.

Why? Because they aren't all up in arms and see what she did as justifiable? People will wank off Emet (love him btw) and give him every pass in the world but all of a sudden Venat is the evil one who did wrong. They are welcome to love her if they want. My issue is that we Ascian lovers know they committed genocide. We cop to the things our favorites have done. They don't seem to be willing to do the same.

I occasionally get the feeling that some people just want reason to be offended and complain about the game, and the current fotm is 'Endwalker story' to fuel that need.

btw, when I refer to Venat lovers, I am much more referring to those like Eara and Kira [note, I am not calling those two in particular out, just using them as an example of the type of Venat lover I mean] who try to justify an act that in the eyes of a lot of fans deserved to be condemned even if things did work out in the end.

There is no justification for genocide, no matter whether it is Ascians or Venat committing it.

I'd love to know where people are giving Emet a free pass because pretty much every Ascian fan I know has been pushing for some sort of 'third way forward' or 'alternate universe' instead of mass genocide.

It's the Venat fans who seemingly find ways to excuse genocide as a necessity - but only when 'mOmMy' does it and calls the player character a brave little spark after being given every possible advantage to ensure their victory.

Genocide apologism is appalling and that's been EW in a nutshell plus everything we've gotten since from the 6.1 codex entry for Hydaelyn to the now Flow MV art prominently featuring her.

When Yoshi-P has to communicate Venat's not a "bad guy" (while also comparing her to the villains of the series) you'd think they'd recognize it's a problem. JP players have been saying similar things as well. I begrudgingly accept she's still a popular character for reasons that are unfathomable to me, but it's not an isolated opinion and all I can hope is eventually they'll stop celebrating her character and actions both of which I find morally repugnant.
