Suggestion: The ability to equip animation sets of other races/genders as an item

It's always bugged me that Xaela females are stuck with very feminine emotes despite their cultural background and the more proud and confident emotes utilized by Roegadyn and Highlander females would arguably suit them better.

Agreed, but the last sentence in my post stated I’d like them to create new ones with more of a variety of personalities, but more in theme for our races. This could branch out to making new confident emotes for the Xaela and so on.

I guess I just don’t understand the appeal of going back and working on unlocking old cosmetics/animations, when we could be moving forward and have more things that are new.

It's mostly an appeal for something that is presumed to be mostly easy to do. Making new animations takes resources and dev time. Making it so we can use existing animations on more chars, is presumably just a flip of a switch.

That aside, I'm in favour of them letting us choose animations somehow, be it through character creation itself (which was my proposal) or an equippable item like your idea. All of the races are humanoid with plantigrade feet (unlike WoW's Draenei, Tauren etc.) so there should be nothing stopping them being able to swap animations, aside from maybe Lalafell and (male) Roegadyn/Hrothgar potentially being incompatible due to their proportional differences, as well as some of them having tails while others don't... but adding tail movement would still be less work than animating anything from scratch.

Personally I don't care that it would homogenize them, they're already very similar across the board, I'd rather focus on my own character(s) and how they stand to benefit than the races as a whole...

We need this in the game. Especially if it can change the generic idle stance to another race's. I'd use it on my female highlander and male Miqo'te so they'd finally look more relaxed.

PSO2 has let you use the other gender's emotes for nearly a decade. I'm honestly shocked FF14 still doesn't have this.

I know. But in addition to what I previously said, even if this thing were to come to fruition I would rather the restricted races are kept out of it.

Any sense of ‘uniqueness’ we were initially promised is just faded, we can’t wear headgear but everyone gets our emotes/animations

... there's no denying Viera and (especially) Hrothgar have it rough rn, so I get where you're coming from.

That said, the way I see this happening is it would come *after* they're done with everything else (hair, hats compatibility, female Hrothgar etc.)

while i want this, as others testing has shown it isnt quite as easy as just "tell the game to use the other emote" heck even male and female hyru SAGE idle animations arent 100% compatable... AND THEY ARE LITTERALY JUST MIRRORED


its a bit more work then most expect, they would have to go trough each emote and make sure it works with each race


Hrothgar and lalas would not work with most emotes, and vice versa and some vierra emotes would look incredible odd
