Never did. As I elaborated in my follow up message what I meant was that Square Enix as a Japanese Company expects people to adhere to an Honor System.

Yes, anyone with a zero bug can still claim and the placard retains their entry. In terms of risk management there is a very-small-but-non-zero chance that the fix will bug out, but I think it's so very small as to be ignorable.

To add to this, if they knew people refunding now would cause an issue they would have outright said in the lodestone post, im pretty sure, I know for a fact a ton of '0' plot people who haven't refunded have refunded after the news went out.

It also must be stressed, the lodestone post did NOT object to people doing this, the Dev team very well know people will do this, but outright saying ' Refund for your free house' probably would have went down..well you seen how some in the forum are acting, think that but 10 times worse lol

Lol, you're still making generalizations.

Having played MMOs by other JP companies, those companies would have snatched the gil back.

I've also played Western and non-JP MMOs where the companies would have the done similar to what SE has done.

I will compensate 1gil to say I pay for the house. unless they change it and force us to pay all of it back, showing they have no care for the player that had to wait and loss gil from not being able to make gil from gardening, sub-mission, and house items.

but im on the Oceanic server .. that a new market.. but if they were to make it fair they would get all the winners to pay all of it back and give every participant 1mil in compensation for the time lost , the 1mil compensation wouldn't be enough to brake the market. but it would be enough to say sorry for this bug, they should of tested before hand .. the Oceanic server have not been waiting just for this bug. But since the server opened up. since the ward were locked before this bug. they need a manderville dancing clown npc taking refunds

The person I know took the refund by mistake because they legitimately thought they lost to another person being a 0 entry. If they did this than his fc will have to wait until patch 6.1 to give the money he is already giving in and they will be waiting longer for their house. If that happened I think personally he should never give in the money. At that point it is like saying 'lol you won but you still have to wait sucker.' He was hoping to just be able to give the placard the money. Though something interesting he hasn't been able to move any gil from his character since the one patch they reset the housing. He wanted to put it back in his fc storage as to not spend any, but there it is stuck on his character.

SE was presented with a fun issue though: do we roll back characters a whole month who took the gil back because they weren't sure what to do when they got a 0 Wins bug? You'd have some really pissed off players having an entire month rolled back and that crapstorm would be worse than "well, if you've already done so, we're not going to make you pay it back but you can if you want and voluntarily give the gil up in 6.2." and them keeping their gil if they so wish.

They should have did the rollback on day this happened but they chose not to. The only ones that would been mildly pissed off would have the folks that got plots but instead of sacrificing the few to keep the larger community that felt jip happy they screw it.

I am somehow tiered about the whole thing. I never wanted lottery because reasons. Now there are only problems.

We tried for a fc M plot but others got it. Same happens to friends that tried for a L plot. I see a lot of talking about the people who are affected by the bug. But for everyone who just lose in the lottery it's also bad. It's just waiting and not knowing how next period will be.

Also this 30 day rule is really bad. It's length hits normal players who sometimes hop in/out a fc, but does not stop resellers. 30 days is much to short. It must be 90 days to effectively stop the moonprice reselling with fake fcs. :C

And..., atm I don't think that a lot of people will give the Gil back. I would give it back in this situation. But I also never buyed from resellers because I never wanted to support them.
For many people 20, 50 Mio Gil is a lot. I know many people who are not able to get much Gil together. I am not sure why people so often say it would be to easy to get Gil. Please share your secrets with us! ;D

Imo it's no good decision to make it voluntary. But maybe it's somehow an experiment for them. xD

Have to say, I wouldn't blame players for not paying the gil back.

An honor system has the major flaw of punishing honesty. If you pay the gil back, you get nothing. If you don't, you get rewarded with a large sum of gil. You didn't really "steal" anything because it's virtual currency that doesn't belong to another player nor are you breaking any rules. No one will really know or care.

It's almost worse than just having no NPC and letting everyone keep their gil.

The devs most likely had to resort to this system because there was no fix for it. This just shows how catastrophic a mess up this is.
