So, question for all the people who barely touched tank jobs except when they wanted to skip the queue for a roulette: did the OP change make you enjoy/play WAR any more than before? Or are you all still barely touching the job and not learning how to position properly?

What an absolute kick in the nuts it is, to have an incredibly useful tool ripped away with no warning and for no apparent reason. The excuse of making things more accessible for toddlers to figure out isn't even happening , comments not in opposition to this are overwhelmingly neutral

Like I would be willing to trade the saltiness for a little bit of emphathy and balance out to neutral, if at least people liked the change or it seemed like there was a legitimate reason for it. But they don't even care and it's not making anyone like the job more. It' s just agonizing for those of us who took the time to learn how the tool worked

I don't mind the change from cone to circle; there are tradeoffs though. My main gripe with the cone is once you got the packs of mobs grouped up you had to move to the edge to use Overpower, then go back center to use Mythril Tempest and repeat that until Steel Cyclone or Decimate came up for use. You had to mind moving/turning enemies in case they cleaved party members. The downside of going from cone to circle is that it has a smaller range out in front of you so hitting more mobs as you're running to them isn't as easy now. I welcome the change but I understand the limitations of it's use.

I will stay in this forum and reply to every single one of you coming in here with the same argument that has already been discussed several times.
This was NOT a tradeoff, moving to reposition the mobs is your JOB as a tank, and the cone was the only option to do that while maintaining uptime on the whole pack if it reached a certain size. You're still supposed to move even if you only have circles, you just have to miss half (or more) of the pack now when you do, instead of being able to time it around Overpower coming up in your rotation

I'm sure not many noticed or cared, but certainly at least your casters are annoyed at the behavior you just admitted to, which was signing up for tank role and rush headfirst into a pack of mobs, only to stand there and AoE in place until they all died off in random order. This is just bad tanking, people are coming in here acting like it was a valid preference for doing the job, and it's just not. You don't position a boss to face your party, why is it okay to do the same for adds?

I'm not trying to talk down or make anyone feel bad. I want more tanks to understand this. I want them to see the value this had and join us in asking for this back. I want my damn cone back ! Let's go !

    +1 to this.

I get that not everyone knows tanking concepts 100%, but what was described as a detrimental aspect by the person you replied to is kind of what was expected....

Circle Overpower just "feels wrong". I think it's the shortened range. It feels restrained, which is the opposite of what Warrior is supposed to be.

Maybe this is just me but I've been seeing a handful of my friends and people I know finally using WAR/playing it slightly more due to this change. If this was the road map the dev team was going for then they have accomplished that and I don't think they will change it back, even if it means dissatisfying us who love the cone (and I hope they do revert it back).

I do agree that it just isn't fair for us who do take the time to learn how to position with the cone (Hall of Novice teaches this!) and basically telling us to readjust instead of the other people learning it so they listened to the latter.

I used to be excited about tanking an Expert but now when I tank it I'm just like "let's get it over with". Furthermore, it's either I play another role and miss tanking or I tank and feel sour about it.

I like Overpower like how I like my ice cream served, as a cone.

As a compromise, could we get an eight-yalm circle so it still has the same forward range?

And where then does that end? We'd doubtless then shout that Mythril Tempest should have 8 yalms, and therefore then all circular AoEs. Should then linear AoEs be left with an AoE narrower than an 8 yalms to either side?

The radius on circular AoEs has already been increased from their original size (and linear AoEs widened). The original implementation was that they would all have roughly the same square footage, just in different shapes.

Seems like a bad time to pick up WAR then since in Expert Roulette you have to drag along a healer anyway, so you might as well bring a tank that does DPS if they all play the same anyway. And for non-expert roulettes it doesn't really matter anyway.

I've practically stopped tanking dungeons (or even logging in on non-raid nights come to think of it). I'll tank them when static/FC requests but on my own I'll do every other roulette and skip the dungeon ones (if it's healer/dps in need, might do that, but I'll avoid tanking). If I wanted to play GNB, PLD, or DRK, I would have.
