your also proving their point, looking at their mounts on the lodestone is proof enough 9/10Do you see me going to threads about housing or crafting and making fun of peoples logs when something relating to their interests doesn't go their way?
Sometimes people being demonstrably incompetent is extremely relevant to a discussion, such as when a player starts posturing and pontificating at people about how they're amazing at the game without 3rd party tools, but have no actual idea how the game works and are getting carried in every party they join.
If someone decides to get into a debate or discussion about something combat related on the forums, it's important to try to understand if they're speaking from a credible place. On these forums, they almost never are.

I mean this is like the exact reasoning why Yoshi-p wants to actively discourage dps meter and parser usage, they're not meant to be a weapon or a cudgel to beat people over the head with when they disagree with you.Do you see me going to threads about housing or crafting and making fun of peoples logs when something relating to their interests doesn't go their way?

I think the problem here is that most hardcore players think that this game is made to pander and to please their needs and it’s not. The game was always directed towards casual players since they are the majority of the community. Ultimately SE is a bussiness and they are here to make money. They are adding hard endgame content but it’s always minimal compared to all the casual stuff you got in game. They are even simplifying the jobs, which in some cases is bad but to each their own.

Maybe not, but if someone doesn't have a basic understanding, then they're not actively helping with a discussion. Maybe they can point out a fatal flaw, but wouldn't be able to state why or on where it could be.
No, it would be using it as a cudgel if the conversation was completely unrelated to it. When someone is actively discussing and making claims about combat and their performance therein, it is absolutely relevant how competent or incompetent they may be in that regard. Someone who does no savage content, or presses completely random buttons should not have their claims taken seriously in a conversation about high-end content.
It's like complaining that its unfair to bring up unflattering statistics in a political debate, simply because they make the other candidate look bad. Nonsense.
It's funny to say that when people who don't do the content to begin with also constantly berate and belittle the people who do and wind up coming back around to cry and complain when they get it thrown back at their faces. Since there's a website with their performance attached to it, it's mean and bullying but their constant "you can't do content without addons it's carrying you" and "you're just using crutches", ect is ok.

It's the same as people discounting an entire post or opinion because of a spelling or grammar mistake. You're looking for a reason to discount what they are saying and when you find it you use your gotcha on them. It's absolutely a weapon to try to make them shut up and stop disagreeing with you. You can't discount the argument on itself so you resort to the low hanging fruit of attacking the person who made it.No, it would be using it as a cudgel if the conversation was completely unrelated to it. He doesn't discourage the use of dps meter and parsing any more than any other addon. Harassment is addressed when it's used like that and they can see it, regardless of whatever caused it, can be ACT or can be any other addon, it's not exclusive to parsing.
