You have your point of view, I have mine. But when the UI has not been improved to do some of the things that add ons have been doing for players, and there has been plenty of complaints and feedback that was ignored. I do think there is an excuse to go against the ToS. Maybe the developers should stop acting like WoW devs and look at player feed back.

Reminds me of a time when yoship asked if wow devs played their own game.

Not really correct at all. People were never asking about it. There are many things that players asked for and were updated, but people that just downloaded addons, never asked for things before they saw others banned. Some of the things are intentionally not showed in the UI (as better telegraphs for attacks, when you can start moving during magic cast etc.) Nobody said all the mods are bad, but not all mods that were used by the exact streamers that got ban were good too. There is reason why the world first full group was visibly using addons, but only one very specific person from it was suspended. Pretending we are blind, surely would not change SE opinion.

It eventually capitulated wow and was too little to late. Now we're at a crossroads with whether ff 14 starts to decline or can maintain it's pace. The developers plead and ask the player base not to use these apps but are largely ignored. The housing issue is ruined from house bots. Any content is ruined with auto rotation and apps that tell you how to dance around mechanics.

Bots ruined the economy and any satisfaction. Want to play a game with 80% bots or one player controlling ten characters like wow and ff 11? Keep going on without enforcing your rules. If you make these rules it is your job to enforce them. Please do so square enix. Embarrassing and bringing down the video of that world first is a first step.
The clear still counts, why would they care about the after effects? SE can retroactively ban a single streamer because of it for using plugins after they were brigaded by 5ch, it means nothing. The people who use the plugins that SE has specifically focused in the the ToS change are still going to use those plugins. All they will do in the future is make sure they aren't visible to any upload they do.
Its not like the world first group is sitting there with an invalid clear, or even an asterisked clear either. The community that participates in that type of player driven content has no problem with it, so why should SE bend over backwards to enforce something that they don't want to enforce or control in the first place.

Are you seriously trying to suggest that add ons and third party apps were the downfall of WoW?
Yes. To the point where people got so damned dependent on them that people said they could not play without them. A streamer (no names no pack drill ) YESTERDAY, said he needed these addons because "FF 14 is unplayable at 150ms"..I literally sat there, jaw on ground.

The utter absurdity of that statement alone said it all. He is so dependent on these that he cant cope with 150 ms unless he has them?????? Wut???

Lets look at WOW shall we?

    DBM
    Bartender
    Details
    WeakAuras
    Recount
    ELVUI
    Exorsus Raid Tools
    Healbot

Those are for STARTERS, and if you want to raid at all in WOW you are told get these addons or others, or else. The WOW playerbase is so addicted to them, so dependent, that they are used as a tool to beat people up if they DONT have them, it isnt a choice, its MANDATORY.

    So yes. Absolutely.

They have become so much of the game now that you are literally torn to shreds if you dont have them all..I am aware of players who have up to THIRTY addons, their Ui and interface looks so damned cluttered Im surprised they can see anything, that isnt a game, thats a starship cockpit.

Here. This is a LIST, not a description, but just a LIST of all the addons used in WOW.

    https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons

Tell me that isnt a problem.

While I wouldn't say "unplayable" higher ping does make a few jobs incapable of performing optimially without some kind of mitigation.

It's weird that you talk about a streamer being frustrated at packet loss due to high ping, and how that makes it difficult to play optimally - and then go on to talk about a bunch of UI mods. Completely different problems being addressed there.

I have no knowledge of the WoW raiding scene so I won't comment on that front, but that statement the streamer said is far from absurd.

MCH & DRK can't function properly unless you have low ping, they're literally designed to require double weaving/single weaving on 1.5s GCD like crazy for their bursts, otherwise they take major hits to their dps that no other jobs in their category role experience for no other reason than your ping was too high.

Some jobs are borderline unplayable at a high level without ping reduction add-ons or being lucky like me and getting to live in very specific parts of the world. If the dev team is going to design jobs that require double weaving or low ping dependent mechanics in their jobs, they need to get off their asses, look at these add-ons, and then copy their code into the game and make it standard experience for all users, full stop. Asking someone to just 'cope' with 150ms on something like DRK or MCH is an unacceptable answer, no ifs ands or buts.

    Define "optimal".

I say that because, and no I am not joking, to some people means "I see you are doing xyz dps I WANT MORE", to the point where some extreme individuals scream abuse for not doing .04 more dps than they want. This pursuit of 'optimal" leads to the mentality that other players that arent "optimal" are beneath you.

Dont tell me it doesnt exist because it DOES. Ive seen it.

IIt's weird that you talk about a streamer being frustrated at packet loss due to high ping
150 ms is not "high ping". Nowhere NEAR it.

, and how that makes it difficult to play optimally - and then go on to talk about a bunch of UI mods. Completely different problems being addressed there.
His point was that at 150 ms he couldnt play without these addons..which is, to put it bluntly, idiotic.

Again, "optimal" is subjective to the whims of whoever makes that "definition", its also vague and has no clear delineation. People get.."fixated" on "optimal" to the point of utter lunacy. That lunacy then leads to inexcusable, reprehensible behaviour.

    Why?

Because they think "That player isnt playing optimally hence I am entitled to scream epithets at them and abuse them all I like".

It becomes, quite honestly, a classic example of fixation on numbers and statistics, wiping the human factor off the table. When you see yourself as superior based on numbers the UI hands you with all these addons, its a good excuse to dehumanise others.

"Optimal", like beauty, is in the eyes of the beholder.

Asking someone to just 'cope' with 150ms on something like DRK or MCH is an unacceptable answer, no ifs ands or buts.
Yet I and others have played both for years at 150 to 400 ms...and managed just fine. Funny, that.

Oh and this streamer also said (this made me laugh hysterically) " the numbers arent big enough to see and Im 35"....I just turned 60 and I can see them fine.

    Maybe he needs glasses? :-D

It's either they're memeing, they're ignorant on how people get gear over time and things get easier, they think people don't know how to git gud or all of them and more examples together.

legacy camera pan, slidecast but laggier people can earlier slidecast anyways, a trigger for your positional/abilities when you make a mistake, shaders, a launcher as the base launcher is broken on a system, hrothgar/viera hats, etc. Breaks TOS

If it's an ultimate, it gets easier due to what I've mentioned, gear makes it easier, eventually, DSR will get easier because of it and how the game works.

The buff timer that seems to be the cause in the recent notice, and that they're thinking of implementing it for assumptions such as, realized they're putting in more time based mechanics again. That healers sometimes forgot an invuln on the tank is there because they aren't checking the timer on it from looking at the party list. Etc.
The fact that they acknowledged it makes it strange to have the recent bans over a community race. We'd be seeing a lot more players being banned for coming up with QoL ideas.

NISI, it didn't matter, because players passed it around on when __ mechanic happens.
At most, it helps on catching players who made a mistake and makes it easier to tell who did it and figure out how that mistake happen.

It's a reclear, mistakes happen, the RPR popped their mechanic wrongly and caused a wipe because no one can adjust for it in time and no one would've known it was the RPR if it wasn't my focus target.

If you cleared a tier without being in the definition of having been carried in a typical coop, multiplayer game, you shouldn't find this an issue, because you already know what happens in the instance, a scripted timeline with some variation.
World runners, achieve this by inching every second possible and go again over hundreds of times.
Unless you want to subject yourselves to this, we do not need to do this over 100+ pulls for savage just to clear besides running again.

What I see are people, who could keep doing what they do, never having bothered with such content reasonably, touch upon it as if they think it is malicious.
    I still don't know why NIN/SAM got changed but it's W/E, it's here now.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tRwP6RRJ-uE this is, and they got away with it for months on stream before being purged and moved onto an alt.

Botters/scripters/PvP polymorphs, those are a whole other thing that has actual impact.
bots you see on your DC that have persisted in each patch, not the RMT terminated counts.
